Mr. Welch,
Thank you for the additional information.
In evaluating the completeness of your submission we found one additional bit of information, in reference to
the colors on the sign, which we request you to supply.
In reference to the color id numbers, for the Entrance Corridor Requirements, please forward the Pantone or
Pantone equivalent numbers for all colors on the sign including the colors in the JMRL logo.
We noticed that you included a "Pantone DS" number for the brown letters. Unfortunately we were unable to
find reference to that number and it is our understanding that the color series was discontinued in 2010. We
therefore have no formula guide to reference it and request that you supply an equivalent Pantone number that
is current.
We look forward to receiving this additional information from you and moving forward with your submission.
Sincerely,

Margaret,
The sign( or column) will be 1 ft. from the building.
We have discussed other options for the sign, but the Library is quite insistent on having stone
columns to match the building.
2
Yes, it will be crowded.
When we got started on this sign project, the county assured the library board that no permit was
needed, no fees would be levied and the only restriction would be the setback requirement. We
played with different post options and finally made the columns smaller to get the set back. We
purchased the stone and had the sign fabricated, believing that the set back issue was the only one
we were dealing with. We were waiting for you all to come and check the set back, (we had a full size
pattern on the ground at the library) so we could dig the footers and continue.
All the elements for the sign have been purchased, we can't change the sign size.
Best, Peter

Subject: Crozet Library Sign
Peter and Bill,
I am reviewing the Crozet Library Sign application for the ARB. The submittal information shows that the
proposed sign is located very close to the building. Can you tell me exactly how far from the building the
closest stone pier would be?
It looks like the overall size of the sign (the panel and the piers) and the proximity of the sign to the building
will result in a cramped appearance. A sign panel on a stone base would take up less length than the panel
between two piers and would result in a less crowded appearance. A sign panel supported by two posts, rather
than piers, would also free up some space for a less crowded appearance. (The downtown Charlottesville library
sign, pictured below, uses posts.) Have you considered options such as these?
