%.✓ `440 Margaret Maliszewski From: Davies, Ashley<adavies @williamsmullen.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 16, 2015 12:38 PM To: Margaret Maliszewski Subject: RE: CVS Attachments: vdot easement.pdf; ARB Comment Response Letter.pdf Hi Margaret, Here is a comment response and the language I have for the VDOT easement. Let me know if there is anything else you need for now. Ashley From: Margaret Maliszewski [mailto:MMaliszewski @albemarle.org] Sent: Wednesday, June 10, 2015 5:33 PM To: Davies, Ashley Subject: CVS Ashley, I've attached the corrected May 18 ARB action letter for the CVS project. This version of the letter deletes the comments regarding the retaining wall, as directed by the ARB on June 1. A hard copy of the letter is in the mail. Also, we've received your ARB application for the next CVS review. Would you please send along a memo indicating how the comments from the May 18 review have been addressed in the current proposal? For easy reference, here are the items that need to be addressed: 1. Show how the visibility of rooftop equipment will be eliminated. Provide site sections and details on the proposed method of screening the rooftop equipment. 2. Add the standard mechanical equipment note to the plan: "Visibility of all mechanical equipment from the Entrance Corridor shall be eliminated." 3. Provide a copy of the VDOT easement document. With the next ARB submittal, provide information from VDOT outlining the types and sizes of landscaping allowed in the easement. 4. Shift the new water line to provide planting area for trees along the Rt. 29 frontage. 5. Revise the plan to clearly label all utility lines and the width of each easement. Indicate on the plan the height of the overhead electric line. 6. Provide landscaping consistent with the EC guidelines to the extent allowed by the VDOT and utility easements. 7. Provide the Rt. 29 frontage trees at 3W caliper at planting. 8. Provide the landscape plan at a standard scale of 1" = 20'. 9. Increase the size of the trees along the entrance drive on the west side of the site to 2W caliper at planting. 10. Provide all perimeter shrubs at a minimum planting height of at least 24", including shrubs adjacent to Rio Road and Route 29. 11. Significantly enhance the shrub planting along the Rt. 29 frontage to better compensate for the lack of shade and ornamental trees. 12. Add the standard plant health note to the plan: "All site plantings of trees and shrubs shall be allowed to reach, and be maintained at, mature height; the topping of trees is prohibited. Shrubs and trees shall be pruned minimally and only to support the overall health of the plant." 13. Adjust the quantities of plants and/or species so that the number of proposed plants for any one species does not exceed 25% of the total proposed for that plant type. 1 . .. 14. Indicate on the site plan the material and color proposed for t'retaining walls. Provide a manufacturer's cut sheet and color sample. Provide specific information showing that the proposed wall type and material allow for the planting that is shown. Thanks. Margaret Margaret M. Something along the lines of what they were shown with the Envisor example is what I'd recommend. I don't think it has to be a 3-d image, but an elevation detail showing the corrugation, the trim, the coping at the top,the corner trim, the trim at other joints, etc., as illustrated in the examples highlighted with arrows below, would probably meet their needs. n I r \I, aI I.. 9,,t+ir '101%41i.,it ts,r Mfr ,n...t t'tptit1t43,4r I ',tit• Iltitr t• r ttrtal,} i,rrt . . t . • B I ...i..lulJtll•, ., Mi 14611 i., !tB : " tu,u u4•ett i .,•.t.. { rtF. • NINO( *SS •' •• °*••• « Stilt#,C111tH+ a Caitiff' r Vrrdr#Syxtice» An afford;lhle' solution ror ralutltulrnt screening is ..n finally torte',.. atra.A.d...a....t. t}a.altRtt t.a anaa.ttaa tiaih,a1•11+•t,tset.111ia.l v _ aaata.tya.MWa Wt.1449.1.*44 a...M.1f..• 1+.4400 nrwrwr ra k+r r ato ai t+-ita e+a tye411te IPA*AM$rfltt...nv+at wrin.ta rr.a.re fa,y...sal..tk O.a..tttpr p.....atra r.+.%400.400*.a p44aa4#tat W...04.41,1441.411.41#aat ataa.o t..a..-t a.at,wt. paaw,;.M..ta•..a.M:tt..A.....4V*e,...e...,.11s1771t VP.#wa tt.t•a.a.ua.,aywt....fat Ames ua.pt..4.a tale t.r.tw.11 t.a a Matto l mamma.ad.a ratioa t a.a tn+aa•tint.ea.a. as...tM.a...aw,..a.. tAta t..at►aaoa..,r+...a.»r-At.t,attw See' 2:Decidr on u Punet Amiga l 46.1.1 w.aa•ta tt' Customizing a screen to fit your steeds is easy... 111 11111 I 141.01.1—..*4.4 e.g.,.-..aa..d 0.44#«.. pot*Asti.usec".4 on* ttiw tr"".aA.+.+*ai AY aM.e.aawia Mrf ts.a+rt* t.t..a pi.rtxa:w art...nt.....w.ta,aSkS. .arts p..t1 t9.MM+,aa a taaa rtn r. teas...*.p . ty.a .` tt tas i .at.ta r«.. .4 a.a;a tam at star .Fa7d Mitt le ...".,_ aw rw ..,w., tww.at •.q 1.44.1.art 0t=8.91.e,a t t..utwi wlk.MU.aa ..a....***4 rM pt..tat?wa.at aaa1.4444$ .r si t la 01.4 d,mot Tat math.et..,..aaata...i.a a.ta..t.m.d try.a.np..+All***,t 0•400 htn,.*Mad.a4a ttt path at avid Omar x.1aat wrap•apt•t.ta.46111►.mat.* ..slats+it Saar.t„.1y.t„It a.,*46t two Ens trtn«r ri.tat 4*.1.t..»n,.::..a..t tomato. am M.tam part...* l,5.,a.3 we:4 444..4 rya.a-..411.1m. 441P 3 34 Select*Top Trim 0,444h ir 1111 1111 11111 1111 tr .wtsa..r sate YM.t. Specify the metal (this is already noted in the detail). 2. Specify the type of paint/paint application process to ensure a good appearance long-term. 3. Add a detail(s)to further clarify the appearance of the panels. Regarding#3,you might think about things like: the treatment of the ends/corners of the panels, treatment of joints, direction of ribbing, and other similar design features that will affect the appearance of the screen(s). We were originally going to go with the 'Envisor Screens provided by City Scapes; however, their service and installation has been terrible and we want to make sure we provide you guys with a great finished product for this store. We are proposing that the screening system is constructed on the roof by the General Contractor per the attached plans that were sent over.
