Re: 5th Street Apartments
Charlottesville, VA
Dear Margaret,
The following list of changes corresponds to the comments provided during the July 22, 2015
hearing, and submitted for approval on December 7, 2015. The modifications presented below
correspond to item 15 on the list of comments, which reads-
"15. Reconsider elevations of Building 5 to be more in keeping with the earlier color
rendering presented at the previous meeting. All building elevations fronting on the EC
require the same appropriate level of detail"
In response to this comment, the following changes were implemented:
1. 3'-0" roof pop-ups were added above balconies to add architectural interest to the building
elevation and roof line.
2. The balcony tower adjacent to the entry breezeways was extended, and the roof element
was popped-up 3'-0"to create a change in planes thus creating a more dynamic façade.
3. Arched trim was added and board and batten panels were extended on the top level of the
building to keep with the overall aesthetic and level of detail presented on buildings
elsewhere in the property.
Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
Blake Simmons
