Re: University of Virginia Foundation Golf Facility
Dear Mr. Keeler:
The Albemarle County Service Authority (ACSA) has reviewed the plans entitled
"University of Virginia Foundation Golf Facility" and has the following comments:
Sheet T1.01
o The PE signature on the cover page must be original.
o Omit the following pages on your next submission:

o Add the ACSA Water and Sewer General Conditions
Sheet C0.03
o Indicate public sewer versus septic and public water versus well for all
buildings shown on the golf course (around the mansion and proposed
facility). Currently the ACSA has the following account listed (neglecting
the services at the end of Gold Course Drive):
■ ACT# 1413200 — 5/8" Water Only — Birdwood Mansion
o The ACSA will review the current services, once indicated, to ensure there
will be no cross connections when public service is established.

o The existing ACSA water main is 6". Coordinate with Robbie Gilmer
(Department of Fire/Rescue) to determine the fire flow requirements.
Provide a hydraulic report to show that the fire flow can be achieved with
the 6" restriction.
o Callout the proposed connection with a 6" x 6" TS&V followed by an 8N 6"
reducer.

o Include a tracing wire connection point at ST 23+25 (see attachment for
an example detail).
o Label the proposed water main with size and material.
o Update easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Waterline Easement."

o Label the proposed water main with size and material.
o Update easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Waterline Easement."
o Include a tracing wire connection point at ST 17+90.
o Deflect the pipe along the alignment in lieu of multiple horizontal bends.
o Add an 8" gate valve on the NE side of the proposed fire hydrant tee.
o Show and callout a 6" fire hydrant valve.
o Show an easement around the proposed fire hydrant assembly.

o Label the proposed water main with size and material.
o Label the proposed sewer with size and material.
o Update easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Waterline Easement."
o Update sewer easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Sewer
Easement."
o Clearly indicate which buildings will be served by each proposed water
meter.
o Provide fixture counts for each existing building that will be served by
public water through this project. The ACSA will size these meters during
the next review.
o Add notes for the future stub -out connection to include an 8" gate valve,
20 LF of pipe and a restrained cap.
o Show a future easement along Golf Course Drive to Route 250 for a future
water main extension by others to provide a redundant connection.
o Show an easement around the proposed fire hydrant assembly.
o Show and callout a 6" fire hydrant valve.
o Provide the following at ST 15+45 based on the hydraulic analysis:
■ 8" x 6" Reducer and 6" gate valve, or
• 8" gate valve
o Clearly indicate public versus private sewer.

o Label the proposed water main with size and material.
o Label the proposed sewer with size and material.
o Update easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Waterline Easement."
o Update sewer easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Sewer

o Clearly indicate which buildings will be served by each proposed water
meter.
o Provide fixture counts for each existing building that will be served by
public water through this project. The ACSA will size these meters during
the next review.
o Provide proposed fixture counts for the Golf Facility so a meter box or
vault can be proposed.
o MH6 to MH8 shall be private.
o Eliminate MH5 and connect the Golf Facility lateral at MH4.
o Add a gate valve on the Golf Facility fire line (post indicator must be on the
private side of the gate valve).
o Reconfigure the end of the water main as indicated on the marked up
plans.
o Provide access easements to the proposed sewer.
• Sheet C3.29
o Label the proposed sewer with size and material.
o Update sewer easement callout to "Proposed 20' ACSA Sewer
Easement."
o Increase the limits of clearing to 20' where indicated. If the limits are
reduced due to golf course grass then add the appropriate notes. If the
clearing is not increased, clearly indicate that no trees will be located
within the easement.
• Sheet C4.01
o Label the sewer line material.
o Increase the drop across MH3 to 0.2'.
o Eliminate MH5.
• Sheet C4.02
o Label sewer B, C and D as private.
o Label sewer A from MH7 to CO1 as private.
o Label the sewer line material.
• Sheet C4.03
o Label the water main size and material.
o Update the minimum cover to 42" (3.5').
• Sheet C4.04
o Label the water main size and material.
o Update the minimum cover to 42" (3.5).
o Update connection notes based on the existing 6" main.

o Relocate proposed trees in conflict as indicated on the plans.
