County of Albemarle Departmen of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Voice: (434) 296 -5832 Fax: (434) 972 -4126 5/1/06 Page 1 of 2 Intended use or justification for request: The intended use is the construction of a new free - standing Tire and Auto Service Center in the center of the least -used end of the overall existing Pantops Shopping Center. The building will be a one - story, brick -faced structure of approximately 6,600 square feet, about 56' wide by 118' long, and 25' in height. It will generally match the rest of the shopping center in architectural styling, have ten service bays with five overhead garage doors on each side. The building and its surrounding travelways will consume 74 existing parking spaces, but the shopping center has enough excess parking spaces to allow for this loss. The building will also be on the crest of the existing paved parking area, with SW drainage away from the building in all directions. Brick -faced masonry bays are provided at the rear of the building to conceal the trash dumpster and the storage of used materials such as tires and oil, which are picked up periodically.
