Before Engineering can recommend approval to the minor amendment, the following comments must be
addressed:
1. In regards to item #1, an adequate dumpster pad is required. The pad should be sized to tit the
entire compactor (minimum of 10 feet x10 feet), with an additional 8 feet of dumpster pad in front
of the dumpster (the front being the side in which the compactor gets loaded onto the truck). The
dumpster pad must also meet these specifications: a minimum 4" stone base and 6" concrete of
3000psi at 28 days, or stronger, reinforced with a minimum grid of wire reinforcing or #4 bars at
12" on center. [I 8-4.12.19a,b, DM]
2. In regards to the four new parking spaces in the old location of the dumpster pads: The parking
spaces are only shown 14 feet deep. The spaces nust be a minimum of 18 feet deep (or 16 feet
deep with 2 feet of grassed overhang). [18- 4.12.16a,c]
3. In regards to item #12, the grades for the loading areas behind Harris Teeter must not exceed 5%
in slope. [18- 4.12.15c]
