Please provide a detail for the retaining wall. The retaining wall detail should include a handrail and a note stating that for any portion of the wall taller than 4ft, a handrail will be required. 2. Should the spot elevation in the southeast corner of the artificial field be 637? The crown and longitudinal pitch of the field appear to be between 0.46% and 0.48% except for the slopes to the point in the southeast corner. 3. The cleanout detail on sheet 4 shows the pipe exposed on the playing surface. Please clarify. 4. The County has refined its policy on artificial turf fields. The conversion of the grass to artificial turf increases the overall imperviousness of the site, so water quality and quantity control is a concern. Though, after evaluating the existing stormwater system, engineering review believes that water quantity control is not an issue considering the detention within in the existing downstream biofilter, underground pipe, and even within the underdrain system of the new field. However, water quality concerns still exist. The applicant should submit a WPO plan showing water quality treatment of the runoff from the artificial field. Water quality computations should be made considering the artificial field as gravel (70% imperviousness). Alternatively, in lieu of providing treatment within a facility, the applicant may commit to water quality monitoring of the runoff from the artificial field. The frequency and location of the water quality sampling should be determined by a qualified individual with experience in water quality analysis. Results and analysis of the raw data should be provided to the county every three months after construction of the field for a period of one year. 22 -2_ _ _{ D 07 401 EngiI_n Construction St Anne s 4342'= i'75'1 i rte 67,40:-..., COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, Virginia 22902 -4596 Phone (434) 296 -5832 Fax (434) 972-4126 Project:Saint Anne's Belfield; Minor Site Plan Amendment [SDP200900037] Plan preparers Mr. Kurt Gloeclmer, PE Owner or rep.:Saint Anne's Belfield Plant received date: 7 May 2009 Date of comments: 9 June 2009 Reviewer:Phil. Rev. 1) At the suggestion of the applicant, the County will allow the treatment of a percentage of existing VDOT impervious surfaces in lieu of direct treatment of the artificial turffield. However, in order to treat this road runoff to the minimum state guidelines, a full biofilter section (2.5ft) must be provided. Once the following items are addressed, the plan can be approved: Please submit a WPO application and fee ($180) for an amendment to the SWMplan. Please update the biofilter detail on Sheet 2.1 to show a 2. Sft section of the "state- approved biofilter mix" and between 12" & 18" of gravel beneath the soil mix. Please also remove structure 23 and 8" pipe from the profile. The county will accept the adequate percolation rate of the in -situ soil beneath the biofilter, so an underdrain will not be required. Please remove structure 23, the underdrain pipe, and the note referring to the underdrain pipe from pages C0.0 and C1.3. It should also be noted that the applicant is now proposing to direct runofffrom turffield into the irrigation cistern. This will result in some additional treatment of the runofffrom the field during spring and summer months. 1 I.LV 1 V1 1 Main Identittr From:Philip Custer" <pcuster @albemarle.org> C Pi-t- , To:gloeckner @embargmail.com> Cc:Summer Frederick" <sfrederick @albemarle.org> Sent:Wednesday, July 22, 2009 1:34 PM Attach: biofilter.pdf 4. Subject: St. Anne's Belfield d' Kurt, I have reviewed the latest set of plans for the minor amendment for the turf field replacement at Saint Anne's Belfield. The plans look okay except for a few touchups that I am refiPIIM. bpeIo,,orde for engineering to approve the WPO plan (and hence recommend approval of the site plan to the planner ,._L e' d'Y s T pf'[h plan in addition to the WPO application and fee. The WPO application should be submitted as an amendment to a previously approved SWM plan (WPO 2008 - 00094) with a $180 fee. When the 3 sets of he plan are submitted to the engineering for approval, please make sure the following minor changes are applied to the plan: V s 7Call the "grass" out in the biofilter detail s Switchgrass A 12" to 18" layer of gravel (1/2" to 1" stone) underneath the biomix is required. Please revise the detail to show this accurately. Please add a note to the biofilter detail stating that an underdrain is not required because of satisfactory permeability tests. It appears the handrail note on sheet 3 of 5 is no longer necessary because a chain Zink fence is now being proposed. To avoid confusion, please remove this note. ytf possible, please edit the note /callout on sheet 1 of 5 that still refers to the 8" pipe and sandfilter. If this is difficult to do, I can scratch out the note on the sets we approve later if necessary. Y /Le also given a copy of the plan to Summer for her to look over. Before sending any copies to engineering, it may be best to wait for her to get back to you regarding the set. Then, you can drop off all of the copies needed for both WPO and site plan approval. All outstanding engineering comments have been addressed and the stormwater management plan amendment is hereby approved. No adjustment to the WPO bond will be necessary. With the approval of the stormwater plans, engineering review can now recommend approval of the site amendment plan to the lead planner. Please contact me should you have any questions.
