GENERAL NOTES:
1. IT 1S THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY ALL EXISTING AND
PROPOSED SITE CONDITIONS AND TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE PROJECT
AREA AND THE PLANS BEFORE BEGINNING ANY WORK. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT AND THE COUNTY OF ANY
DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE PLANS AND THE ACTUAL SITE CONDITIONS.
2. COORDINATE AND PERFORM ALL WORK IN A MANNER THAT ALLOWS FOR
SAFE AND CONVENIENT VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN USE OF THE PREMISES
DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE SITE SHALL REMAIN AVAILABLE TO THE OWNER
AT ALL TIMES.
3. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE HEALTH,
SAFETY AND WELFARE OF THE PUBLIC AT ALL TIMES WITHIN THE LIMITS OF
THE PROJECT AND ALL NECESSARY WORK AREAS- THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE FLAGMEN, FLASHING LIGHTS, SIGNAGE, BARRICADES, AND ANY OTHER
MEANS NECESSARY.
4. ALL CONFLICTING SURFACE AND SUB -SURFACE STRUCTURES, UTILITIES,
AND OBSTRUCTIONS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
PROTECT EXISTING SUB -SURFACE UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES AS NECESSARY.
IF DAMAGED, REPAIR OR REPLACE AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. ALL
CONFLICTING CONDITIONS SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO THE
ATTENTION OF THE ARCHITECT AND COUNTY.
5. NO WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED ON PRIVATE PROPERTY OR OUTSIDE OF
ANY EASEMENTS WITHOUT THE COUNTY'S WRITTEN PERMISSION. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT DISTURB ANY ADJACENT STRUCTURES OR
STRUCTURE FOUNDATIONS DURING CONSTRUCTION. IF DAMAGED, THE
CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.
6. SAWCUT, TO FULL DEPTH, ALL PAVEMENTS TO BE DEMOLISHED. ALL
DEBRIS SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF LEGALLY
OFF-SITE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEMOLISHING AND/OR
ADJUSTING ALL EXISTING SITE FEATURES AS NECESSARY FOR PROPOSED
CONSTRUCTION.
SITE NOTES:
1. BEFORE BEGINNING ANY CONSTRUCTION, THE LOCATION OF ALL SITE IMPROVEMENTS
SHALL BE VERIFIED FOR ACCURACY AND SHALL BE STAKED IN THE FIELD BY A SURVEYOR
LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA. ANY AND ALL DISCREPANCIES

3. ALL DRAINAGE STRUCTURES SHALL HAVE POSITIVE SLOPE TO THE DRAIN INLET. ALL
PAVEMENTS, LAWNS, AND OTHER SURFACES SHALL HAVE POSITIVE DRAINAGE WITH NO
PUDDLING OR PONDING OF WATER OCCURRING ON ANY SURFACES.
4. ALL EXCAVATIONS FOR UNDERGROUND PIPE INSTALLATION, SHORING, AND SLOPES SHALL
COMPLY WITH ALL OSHA STANDARDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY AND ALL OTHER
LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND/OR REQUIREMENTS.

5. NO CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMMENCE UNTIL THE OWNER HAS SECURED ANY/ALL
NECESSARY PLAT AND PLAN APPROVALS, ON-SITE AND OFF-SITE EASEMENT APPROVALS,
CONSTRUCTION PERMITS AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORIZATIONS FORM THE COUNTY AND OTHER
AUTHORITIES OPERATING IN THE PROJECT AREA.
6. ALL WORK SHALL BE SUBJECT TO INSPECTION BY THE COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE, VDOT,
AND ACSA. THE CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE PROPER

1) ALL MATERIALS AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH THE LATEST
VERSION OF THE GENERAL WATER AND SEWER CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS AS
ADOPTED BY THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY SERVICE AUTHORITY ON JANUARY 15, 1998,
EXCEPT AS MODIFIED BELOW OR MODIFIED IN SPECIAL NOTES.
2) ALL CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION MUST BE APPROVED
BY RWSA PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK. A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE WITH
RWSA IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK.
3) THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING MISS UTILITY
1-800-552.7000.
4) RWSA ENGINEER (MICHELLE SIMPSON AT (434) 977-2970 EXT. 202) MUST BE
NOTIFIED TfREE BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
5) ALL WORT( 1S SUBJECT TO THE INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE BY RWSA. NO TIE-INS
TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM SHALL BE MADE WITHOUT COORDINATION WITH AND THE
PRESENCE M RWSA STAFF. NO WORK SHALL BE CONDUCTED ON RWSA FACILITIES ON
WEEKENDS OR RWSA HOLIDAYS UNLESS PERMITTED OTHERWISE BY RWSA IN WRITING.
6) FOR SANITARY SEWER LINE CONSTRUCTION: RWSA MAY REQUIRE BYPASS PUMPING
FOR TIE-INS TO THE EXISTING SYSTEM. ALL DOGHOUSE MANHOLES MUST BE PRESSURE
TESTED PRIOR TO CONNECTING TO THE SYSTEM.
7) THE LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES IS SHOWN ON THE PLANS FROM DATA
AVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF DESIGN AND IS NOT NECESSARILY COMPLETE OR CORRECT.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VERIFICATION OF THE LOCATION,
SIZE AND DEPTH OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES, BOTH SURFACE AND SUBSURFACE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE ENGINEER OF ANY DISCREPANCIES
BETWEEN THE PLANS AND FIELD CONDITIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE DUE
DILIGENCE TO PROTECT ALL UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES FROM DAMAGE AT ALL TIMES,
WHETHER SHOWN ON THE PLANS OR NOT. DAMAGE TO ANY EXISTING UTILITIES SHALL
BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE ORIGINAL CONDITION AT NO ADDITIONAL COST
TO THE OWNER.
8) EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL FACILITIES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED IN THE
RWSA EASEMENT UNLESS PERMITTED OTHERWISE BY RWSA IN WRITING. NO GRADING
OR FILLINGSHALL BE PERMITTED IN THE RWSA EASEMENT UNLESS PERMITTED
OTHERWISEBY RWSA IN WRITING.
9) NO BLASTING SHALL BE PERMITTED WITHIN 100 FEET OF RWSA FACILITIES WITHOUT
WRITTEN POMISSION AND APPROVAL OF THE BLASTING PLAN FROM RWSA. GROUVD
MONITORINQDVRING BLASTING AND A PRE -BLAST SURVEY MAY BE REQUIRED. DAMAGE
DUE TO BLASTING TO ANY UTILITIES SHALL BE REPAIRED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO THE

WITH COHNCTED 57 STONE TO THE SPRINGLINE OF THE EXISTING PIPE WILL BE
REQUIRED.
10 NEW WATER MAIN INSTALLATIONS SHALL BE TESTED, CHLORINATED, FLUSHED AND
WATER SANLES APPROVED PRIOR TO MAKING ANY PERMANENT CONNECTION TO THE
PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM. APPROVED METHODS OF FILLING AND FLUSHING NEW WATER
MAINS WILLBE REQUIRED TO ELIMINATE ANY POSSIBLE CROSS -CONNECTION TO THE
PUBLIC WRIER SYSTEM.
12) ALL EASEMENTS FOR NEW RWSA FACILITIES SHALL BE RECORDED PRIOR TO
PLACING TIE NEW FACILITIES INTO SERVICE.
13) NO PERMANENT STRUCTURAL FACILITIES WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE RWSA
EASEMENT. THIS INCLUDES BUILDING OVERHANGS, RETAINING WALLS, FOOTERS FOR ANY
STRUCTURE DRAINAGE STRUCTURES, ETC.
14) TREES ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE RWSA EASEMENT.
ALBEMARLE COUNTY STANDARD EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES
1. THE PLAN APPROVING AUTHORITY MUST BE NOTIFIED ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE
PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE, ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF
LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY, AND ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE FINAL INSPECTION.
2. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES; WILL BE CONSTRUCTED AND
MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO MINIMUM STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE
VIRGINIA EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL HANDBOOK AND VIRGINIA REGULATIONS
VR 625-02-00 EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL REGULATIONS.
3. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES; ARE TO BE PLACED PRIOR TO
OR AS THE FIRST STEP 1N CLEARING.
4. A COPY OF THE APPROVED EROSION AND SEDIMEMT CONTROL PLAN SHALL BE
MAINTAINED ON THE SITE AT ALL TIMES.
5. PRIOR TO COMMENCING LAND DISTURBING ACTIV171ES IN AREAS OTHER THAN
INDICATED ON THE PLANS, (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIM1ITED TO, OFF-SITE BORROW

7. ALL DISTURBED AREAS ARE TO DRAIN TO APPROWED SEDIMENT CONTROL

8. DURING DEWATERING OPERATIONS, WATER WILL ESE PUMPED INTO AN APPROVED

9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSPECT ALL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES
PERIODICALLY AND AFTER EACH RUNOFF -PRODUCING RAINFALL EVENT. ANY
NECESSARY REPAIRS OR CLEANUP TO MAINTAIN THEE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE
EROSION CONTROL DEVICES SHALL BE MADE IMMEDPIATELY.
10. ALL FILL MATERIAL TO BE TAKEN FROM AN APPPROVED, DESIGNATED BORROW
