10. General Construction Notes:
A. The abbreviation V.D.O.T. made hereafter refers to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The term County refers
to the County of Albemarle, Virginia.
B. Prior to any construction within any existing public right -of -way, including connection to any existing road, a permit
shall be obtained from the Virginia Department of
Transportation (VDOT). This plan as drawn may not accurately reflect the requirements
of the permit. Where any discrepancies occur the requirements of the permit shall
govern.
C. All materials and construction methods shall conform to current specifications and standards of V.D.O.T. All
excavation for underground pipe installation must comply with OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry (29 CFR Part
1926) .
D. Erosion and siltation control measures shall be provided in accordance with the approved erosion control plan and
shall be installed prior to any clearing, grading or other construction.

10. General Construction Notes: (continued)
E. All slopes and disturbed areas are to be fertilized, seeded and mulched. The maximum allowable slope is 2:1
hodzontal:vertical). Where reasonably obtainable, lesser slopes of 3:1 or better are to be achieved.
F. Paved, rip -rap or stabilization mat lined ditch may be required when in the opinion of the Albemarle County Director of
Engineering, or the Director's designee, it is deemed
necessary in order to stabilize a drainage channel.
G. Compliance with the minimum pavement width, as shown on the typical pavement /road section detail, shall be
strictly adhered to. Exceptions will not be allowed.
H. Traffic control or other regulatory signs of barricades shall be installed by the developer when, in the opinion of the
County Engineer or his designee, they are deemed necesxary in order to provide safe and convenient access. All signs
or other regulatory devices shall conform with the Virginia Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices, latest edition.
I. Unless otherwise noted all concrete pipe shall be reinforced concrete pipe - Class III.
J. All excavation for underground pipe installation must comply with OSHA Standards for
the Construction Industry (29 CFR Part 1926).
K. All paving, drainage related materials and constructions methods shall conform to current specifications and standards
of VDOT unless otherwise noted.
11. General Water and Sewer Conditions
A. Work shall be subject to inspection by Albemarle County Service Authority (ACSA) inspectors. The Contractor will
be responsible for notifying the proper ACSA officials at the start of the work.
B. The location of existing utilities across the line of the proposed work are not necessarily shown on the plans, and where
shown, are only approximately correct. The Contractor, shall, on his own initiative, locate all underground lines and
structures as necessary.
C.AII materials and construction shall comply with the current edition of the General Water & Sewer Construction
Specifications, as adopted by the ACSA.
D. Datum for all elevations shown in National Geodetic unvey.
E. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying Miss Ufilitity (1- 800 -552 - 7001).
F. All water and sewer pipes shall have a minimum of three (3) feet of cover measured from the top of pipe over the
centerline of pipe. This includes all fire hydrant lines, service laterals, and water lines, etc.
G. All water and sewer appurtenances are to be located outside of roadside ditches.
H. Valves on dead -end lines shall be rodded to provide adlequate restraint for the valve during a future extension of the
line.
12. Stormwater Management
A. The site will primarily drain via surface flow and existing stormwater piping to an existing stormwater management
basin located south of the project area. The existing basin was designed and constructed with full build -out of the
subject sub -area of the Research Park incorporated. There in no significant change to the net impervious surface
area coverage of the site with this amendment.
B. The site does not lie within a reservoir watershed. The sitormwater from the site flows northeastward to the North Fork of
the Rivanna River.

The proposed water service line shall maintain a minimum of 3' cover.
The General Contractor shall be responsible for coordination of site utility installation
interface with the modular structure and generator.
The Contractor shall follow manufacturer's recommendations and specifications for
the modular structure finish floor elevation and foundation design.
Contractor shall erect stairs, ramps and egress points to the modular facility in accord
with local, state and federal code requirements.
Contractor shall coordinate the locations for (4) bollards within the existing parking
area containing the modular structure upon completion of the Work with the
University of Virginia Foundation.
Contractor shall be responsible for notifying tenants of the existing facilities in advance
of Work that may affect the operation of the activities within the lease parcels.
Contractor shall install concrete pad for the generator per the manufacturor's
recommendation. The fuel tank installation shall comply with local, state and federal
requirements. The screening fence for the generator shall have gates and openings
sufficient for necessary access to the generator.
