Bob: Thank you for listening to me at lunch today and clearing up several points. It is my understanding that my staff will
be incorporated into the County Pay Plan effective July 1,2003. It is my further understanding that we will have the 2%
merit pool on July 1, 2003 just as all other departments in the County. I talked with Bob Brandenburger as to HR's
proposed salaries for my staff, and the adjustments I would like to those salarys. MY proposal actually reduces the total
as recommended bythe Human Resources Study from $29~265 to $25;559! Bob said my changes would not be a problem.
Because the budget is so tight this year, I am asking the County to fund one ha f of the salary adjustment ($12,780) when
we goon the County p an Ju y l 2003, and to fund ;~he remais~8~ ~5 3~ly i 12~04
As 1 told you at lunch, my staff has been anticipating coming onto the County pay plan effective July 1,2003, with salary
adjustments as proposed by HR. We are all looking forward to the move. I hope that this offer of a slight reduction in the
amount of the adjustment, coupled with the two year implementation, would be enough for the County to begin funding us
now. While I obviously would prefer funding all of the adjustment this year, one half is certainly better than nothing.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon. I am more than happy to appear before the Board of
Supervisors if you feel that appropriate. $12,780 is not much in the total picture of the County budget, but it is to us.
