The work will be within the Lickinghole Creek drainage district. The Limits of Disturbance for the project are 0.91 acres. Water Quality: Currently there exists 0.50 acres of manage turf and 0.41 acres of impervious cover within the limits. In the proposed condition there will be 0.57 acres of managed turf and 0.34 acres of impervious cover. The additional impervious area has been offset by the removal of unneeded impervious surface in the bus loop area. Per the Virginia Runoff Reduction Redevelopement Spreadsheet,this will require that 0.01 lbs/yr of phosphorus be removed. A biofilter is being installed to meet the required reduction. The biofilter is sized to treat 1.12 acres of impervious cover and 0.17 acres of managed turf. This will provide 1.44 lb/yr of removal exceeding the required reduction by 1.43 lb/yr of which Albemarle County Schools will apply to a future project. Water Quantity: The area of disturbance can currently be divided into two separate drainage areas: an area that drains overland to the west, and an area that drains to an unground pipe system that runs to the north. In the area to the west,channel and flood protection requirements are met through a reduction in runoff due to a decrease in impervious area. In the area to the north, channel and flood protection requirements are met through reduction in impervious and runoff reduction due to the biofilter. In both cases the energy balance equation is used for channel protection and a decrease in peak flow from a 10 year storm is used for flood protection. See sheet C6.2 and calculations below. The required treatment volume is equal to 4017 cu. ft. The storage depth is calculated as follows in accordance with the equation 9.1.
