Box 5386 Charlottesville VA 22905 RE: Letter of Revision for SDP2000-152 Peter Jefferson Place V - Final Site Plan (Tax Map Parcel 07800-00-00-03 1 HO) Dear Sir, This letter is in response to the attached LOR request letter dated June 13, 2016. I have reviewed your request to eliminate the 6 foot wide asphalt pedestrian paths located throughout the site and cannot approve the request. These pedestrian paths are required by the rezoning to facilitate a walkable campus, which is an integral part of the rezoning. Physicians, staff, and patients are expected and encouraged to regularly circulate amongst the buildings, parks, and open space on the campus. Merely having a path on the north side of the Peter Jefferson Parkway does not negate the requirement to have a pathway on the southern side of the parkway. The paths as depicted on the final site plan match the location of the paths depicted on the application plan for the rezoning, ZMA2001-15. The paths shall be built, please work with our codes compliance officer to work out a timeline for completion of these required improvements. Sincerely, Christopher P. We request that the construction of an asphalt path along the northern property line and the connections to it from the patio at the rear of the building be deleted. The portions of paths to be deleted are shown on the attached copy of the final site plan. The planting of willow oaks along the northern property line as required in the final site plan was completed several years ago. At the time of the application for this site plan, the approved master plan for Peter Jefferson Place included additional office buildings to the west of Peter Jefferson Place V and the path shown on the final site plan was to allow the interconnection of those buildings with Peter Jefferson Place ll, III and V. With the purchase of that land by Martha Jefferson Hospital and the approval of their new master plan, there will no additional office buildings immediately to the west of Peter Jefferson Place V so the need for that interconnection no longer exists. As can be seen in the attached Google satellite photo, Martha Jefferson Hospital constructed a path parallel to Peter Jefferson Parkway on its northern side and VDOT has painted, and signposted, a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of the driveway entrances and Peter Jefferson Parkway, the location of which is shown on the attached site plan. Pedestrians can therefore walk safely from Peter Jefferson Place II, III and V to Martha Jefferson Hospital using that path. There is therefore no need for any pathway on the south side of Peter Jefferson Parkway like the one shown on the Peter Jefferson Place V final site plan.
