Dear Mr. Newberry:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan, as submitted by Balzer & Associates, Inc., last
revised 16 May 2016, and offers the following comments:
1. The entrance curb return should be 12 feet off the Route 250 edge of pavement.
Additionally, the minimum taper length is 200 feet starting from the curb return. Please
see Figure 4-9, Appendix F.
2. The entrance radii should be 42 feet for an office building without a separate truck
access, per Table 4-3, Appendix F.
3. Please provide trip generation for peak AM hour and left- and right -turn lane warrants.
4. Please show the entire intersection sight distance lines and offset dimensions on plans.
5. Provide entrance grading information and profile.
Please provide two copies of the revised plan along with a comment response letter. If further
information is desired, please contact Justin Deel at 434-422-9894.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section at (434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
