This letter is to approve your request to amend the site plan for Free Union Country School. This
approval permits the improvements described in your request letter dated July 27, 2016 and
shown on Sheets A0.0 and A0.1 of the plan titled "Free Union Country School Outdoor
Education Pavilion" (initialed JTN, dated 9-20-16).
This is your 2nd Letter of Revision for this site. Under current County policy, up to one additional
revision may be permitted before all of the previously approved changes must be incorporated
into a Minor or Major Amendment to the site.

Planning & Development:
Free Union Country School currently operates as a private preschool through 5`h grade and is located in
the village of Free Union, 20 minutes NW of Charlottesville. The area is zoned residential and
agricultural but the School has a Special Use Permit (SP200200064).
We are enriching our program at the School to teach children about the environment in which we live,
and using our rural site as an outdoor classroom to do so. In order to enhance this program and allow
children and staff to work in all kinds of weather, we are hoping to expand the size of the deck on our
community building and add a roofed -over structure at one end and a tree -studded courtyard at the other
end. Each of these areas would provide extended space for students to gather and work with their
teachers out-of-doors and with the surrounding countryside as their focus.
This addition will not increase enrollment numbers nor have an impact on water use, the septic system, or
add run-off . It is designed to enhance the programs our children and their families currently enjoy.
Our current Site Plan (SDP 200800031) will need to be amended to include this addition. It is our hope
that the Albemarle County planners will approve this project after reviewing our plans.

EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN IS NOT REQUIRED.
4. NO TESTING FOR ASBESTOS CONTAINING MATERIALS, LEAD
BASED FINISH SYSTEMS, OR MOLD HAS BEEN EXECUTED.
DISTURBANCE OF EXISTING STRUCTURES IS LIMITED AND ALL
EXISTING STRUCTURES HAVE BEEN CONSTRUCTED SINCE 2000. NO
ASBESTOS CONTAINING MATERIALS, LEAD BASED FINISH SYSTEMS,
OR MOLD IS EXPECTED.
5. PER THE SPECIAL USE PERMIT, THIS LOT IS CURRENTLY
