Erosion Control Violation
STOP WORK ORDER
Mr.Hedrick:
Under§17-213 of the Albemarle County Code,you are hereby notified to immediately cease all land disturbing
activities on the above referenced property(STOP WORK)with the exception of work to address the installation of
erosion control measures as approved by the County. A sworn complaint has been made by the Inspector,Kenny
Thacker,who indicates that the approved erosion and sediment control plan is not being followed.This STOP
WORK ORDER shall remain in place for seven(7)days from the date of receipt. If satisfactory repairs have not
been made within seven(7)days,the County may elect to issue another Stop Work Order,and/or petition the Circuit
Court for penalties and relief with regard to this violation.
Required Correction(s):
1. Follow the sequence of construction as approved on the erosion and sediment control plan.
2. Install paved washrack construction entrance(70' long by 12' wide)with a water supply and a 1.5 inch hose.
3. Install stone construction road as shown on the plan sheet and cease uses of present roadway by blocking
entrance and applying seed and straw mulch to disturbed roadway.
4. Install safety fence along the construction access road as shown on the plan.
5. Install diversion dike and inlet protection(on a wood frame)along the construction access road as shown on the
plan.
6. Install sediment trap#2 correctly as shown on the plan,depth,width,length,and weir.
7. Install right-of-way diversion across construction access road to divert runoff into sediment trap.
8. Construction access road to be 14' wide.
9. Remove soil stockpile that appears to be outside the limits of construction shown on the plan and seed and straw
mulch the disturbed area.
10. Sediment trap#1 was not installed.A diversion dike must be installed to direct runoff to the sediment basin.
11. Apply seed and straw mulch to all areas at fmal grade within 7 days.If hydroseeding is used straw mulch must
still be applied.
12. Extend silt fence across private road on north side of project that is now blocked by fill material.
13. The perforated polyethylene drainage tube in the sediment basin needs to be 2"inches or larger than the 3"inch
orifice,it is presently 1"inch larger.Also provide an adequate strap to hold the perforated drainage tube up
(not a piece of wire)which is now being used.
14. Complete the installation of safety fence around the sediment basin and install signs reading"HAZARDOUS
AREA—KEEP OUT".
Once the above noted items have been completed,inspected,and approved by the County Inspector,the Stop Work
Order will be lifted and work on the project may resume.
