A portion of an existing concrete sidewalk will be removed and replaced with the terrace. Access from the building to the terrace will be from two existing exterior doors. The exterior finish of one wing of the existing building is stucco; the other wing is finished in brick veneer. The material of the retaining wall, an Anchor retaining wall system, Diamond Pro in "Desert Tan", and the terrace surface of precast pavers, NewLine York Tile in "Palmet- to", will integrate well with both exterior finishes. At its maximum height on the north side, the terrace will be several feet above grade; along its perimeter an architectural metal guardrail will be installed. A set of steps on the south side will provide access to an existing parking area. The trellis shown on the plans and elevations has been deleted from the project and will not be constructed.
