Fritz, AICP Chief of Special Projects Attachments: Letter of Request Site Plan Change COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE Facilities and Environmental Services 401 McIntire Road, Room 420 Charlottesville, Virginia 22902-4596 (434) 2965816 October 17, 2016 Christopher Perez Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Re: Letter of Revision — Northside Library Landscape Improvements (SDP 2013-57) In an effort to improve the appearance and functionality of the grounds at the Northside Library, I would like to request making the following changes to the existing site/plan: 1. Remove existing chain link fence located along the Northeast property line adjacent to the loading dock. 2. Install five (5) new trees (2- Amelanchier grandifolia `serviceberry', 3- Ostrya viginiana `hop hornbeam') five feet inside the northeast property line. The new trees will be evenly spaced along the approximately 240' planting area and will be 1.75" cal. B&B and 1.5" cal. B&B respectively. See included plan for detail. 3. Move existing Thuja occidentalis `arborvitae' and plant along northeast property line to fill in spaces between trees noted in item two. I believe the benefits of approving this request will allow us to improve the aesthetics of the grounds and provide a better growing environment for the existing London Plane trees. Removing the existing chain - link fence, which has become overgrown with vines, small trees and poison ivy, will make the area more open as well as provide space for the new landscaping. This new landscaping will provide a visual barrier and vegetative screen for the rear sections of the cinder block buildings of the adjacent storage center property.
