Dear Mr. Collins:
The floodplain development permit (FDP) to develop the Briarwood Recreation Area project has been reviewed and
is denied for the following reasons:
Regarding the fueling station, dumpster, and porta-potty staging area that is shown within the 100-yr
floodplain limits:
a. Fuel Tank and Dumpster — Provide anchoring or move out of the floodplain. I realize these items
are necessary and are temporary in nature but I am concerned that a 100-yr flood could occur
without enough notice to allow removal or securing before the water rises. If this were to occur,
these items could be carried downstream and cause damage to neighboring properties.
b. Porta-Potty — move out of floodplain. This can be located near the construction entrance.
If you have any other suggestions or ideas on how to address these issues, please don't hesitate to let me know.
