Review #1
Dear Mr. James:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Collins Engineering, 24
October 2016, and offers the following comments:
I . Sheet 5 shows an expected ADT of up to 5,000 for Belvedere Boulevard, is this correct?
An ADT greater than 4,000 will change the geometric design requirements, which are not
being met with the proposed plan. A road with an ADT of 5,000 cannot be designed as a
local road. Please clarify.
2. Please provide an overall build -out plan for Belvedere, pdf format is fine.
3. Provide intersection sight distance triangles on plans and in profile view.
4. Please show HGL's on profiles. Also provide HGL calculations, which should be
consistent with existing plans showing existing structures that are being tied in to.
5. The minimum slope for a cul-de-sac is 2%, this plan proposes 5%. Adjust and show cul-
de-sac on the profile.
6. Explain the use of #3 stone as outlet protection as opposed to rip -rap.
Please provide two copies of the revised plan along with a comment response letter. If further
information is desired, please contact Justin Deel at 434-422-9894.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section at (434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
