Subject: ARB 2016-96, Stone Ridge Commons Freestanding Sign, Staff Comments
Importance: High
Lewis - I am sending this email as a follow up to our phone conversation earlier today. I am the planner handling the
Architectural Review Board (ARB) review of your above -noted sign application. As discussed, Stewart Wright Senior
Zoning Permit Planner (434-296-5832 ext. 3024, swright2@albemarle.org ), has determined that the zoning ordinance
does not allow for a third freestanding sign on this parcel. Staff has also determined that one of the two existing
freestanding signs, located in northwest corner of the parcel near the intersection of Hydraulic Road and
Commonwealth Drive, was installed without a sign permit and ARB review/approval.
My suggestion at this point would be that you respond to this email requesting "an indefinite deferral of ARB 2016-96
Stone Ridge Commons Freestanding Sign" to allow you needed time to determine how you want to address the situation
and to provide the necessary revised sign drawings. This would prevent me from having to deny the ARB application and
you having to resubmit a new application and fee. Revised drawings can be emailed to me and Stewart for review.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
