General Notes
NATIONAL GROUND
INTELLIGENCE CENTER
GENERAL
1, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ALL NECESSARY
PERMITS, INSPECTIONS, BONDS AND OTHER APPROVAL RELATED ITEMS IN
ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND STATE POLICY, PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF
ANY CONSTRUCTION WITHIN ANY EXISTING PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY, INCLUDING
CONNECTION TO ANY EXISTING ROAD, A PERMIT FOR SAID CONSTRUCTION
SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(HEREAFTER ABBREVIATED VDOT).
2. ALL PAVING AND DRAINAGE RELATED MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION
METHODS SHALL CONFORM TO CURRENT STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF
VDOT UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
3. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE PROVIDED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROVED EROSION CONTROL PLAN AND SHALL. BE
INSTALLED PRIOR TO ANY CLEARING, GRADING OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION,
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE PROPOSED LAYOUT WITH ITS
RELATIONSHIP TO THE EXISTING SITE SURVEY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO
VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS, SITE CONDITIONS, AND MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS
AND SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER AND ENGINEER OF ANY ERRORS, OMISSIONS
OR DISCREPANCIES BEFORE COMMENCING OR PROCEEDING WITH WORK.
5. DEVIATIONS FROM OR CHANGES TO THESE PLANS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
UNLESS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER.
6. THIS PLAN DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE EXISTENCE OR NON-EXISTENCE OF
UNDERGROUND UTILITIES, PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION OR EXCAVATION,
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE EXISTENCE AND LOCATION OF, OR THE
NON-EXISTENCE OF, UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING "MISS UTILITY" (1-800-552-7001),
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO
PROTECT ANY EXISTING UTILITIES NOT OF RECORD OR NOT SHOWN ON
THESE PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING, AT
HIS EXPENSE, ANY EXISTING UTILITIES DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION. IF
A UTILITY IS DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION, STOP WORK IMMEDIATELY
AND NOTIFY THE ENGINEER.
8. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND COMPLETE
RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF
CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT, INCLUDING SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND
PROPERTY; THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT
BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS; AND THAT THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER
HARMLESS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, REAL AND ALLEGED, IN CONNECTION
WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR
LIABILITY ARISING FROM "THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE OWNER OR THE:
ENGINEER".
9. ANY DAMAGE TO EXISTING PHYSICAL FEATURES (WALKS, LIGHTS, TREES„
SHRUBS, ETC,) SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT SHALL BE MADE AS NECESSARY AT NO COST TO
THE OWNER.
10. ALL TURF AREAS THAT ARE IMPACTED OR DISTURBED BY CONTRACTOR
VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT OR ACTIVITY SHALL BE REPAIRED, REGRADED, AND
RESEEDED.
11. PARKING FOR THE CONTRACTOR'S VEHICLES SHALL BE COORDINATED
THROUGH THE OWNER. THE OWNER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOSS OF
ANY MATERIAL STORED AT THE SITE, PARKING OF EMPLOYEE VEHICLES WILL
BE ACCOMMODATED AT THE SITE.
12. ALL SLOPES AND DISTURBED AREAS ARE TO BE FERTILIZED, SEEDED AND
MULCHED, MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE FILL OR CUT SLOPE IS 2:1. WHERE REASONABLY
OBTAINABLE, LESSER SLOPES OF 4:1 OR BETTER ARE TO BE ACHIEVED.
13, AN APPROVED SET OF PLANS AND ALL APPLICABLE PERMITS SHALL BE (MAINTAINED
AND MADE AVAILABLE AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE BY THE CONTRACTOR.
14. BEFORE BURNING, BLASTING, TRANSPORTATION, OR STORAGE OF EXPLOSIVES,
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED PERMITS.
15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ANY ADDITIONAL FILL
MATERIAL THAT MAY BE NECESSARY IN THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISPOSAL OF ANY EXCESS MATERIAL FROM THE SITE,
ANY SUCH EARTH MOVING ACTIVITY IS SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE
ENGINEER,
16. THIS SITE IS NOT IN A RESERVOIR WATERSHED AREA,
17.THIS PLAN AMENDS THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED SITE PLAN (SDP 87-008)..
18. ALL FUTURE OCCUPANTS OF AN INDUSTRIAL NATURE SHALL COMPLY WITH THE
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS SET FORTH IN THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY CODE
CHAPTER 18 SECTION 4.14.
SITE CONSTRUCTION
1. THE ABBREVIATION VDOT MADE HEREAFTER REFERS TO THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION. THE TERM COUNTY REFERS TO THE COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE,
VIRGINIA.
2, ALL UNSUITABLE MATERIAL SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE CONSTRUCTION LIMITS OF
ALL PAVED AREAS.
3. CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS SHALL BE CONTAINERIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE VIRGINIA
LITTER CONTROL ACT, NO LESS THAN ONE LITTER RECEPTACLE SHALL BE PROVIDED
AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
4 ALL SPRINGS SHALL BE CAPPED AND PIPED TO THE NEAREST DRAINAGE DITCH OR
DRAINAGE OUTFALL, THE PIPE SHALL BE MIN. 6" DIAMETER AND CONFORM TO VDOT
STANDARD SB -1, IN ALL CASES NOTIFY ENGINEER,
5. STEPS FOR INGRESS AND EGRESS IN ALL DRAINAGE STRUCTURES SHALL BE IN
ACORDANCE WITH VDOT STANDARD ST -1.
6, ALL DRAINAGE INLETS SHALL HAVE A 2 INCH LOCAL DEPRESSION.
