THE CITY MANAGER STATED IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE LOW BID WAS THAT SUBMITTED BY
R. E. LEE AND SON° IT WAS POINTED OUT THAT CONTRACT SHOULD BE AWARDED PRIOR TO JULY 26
SINCE THIS WAS THE DEADLINE SET FOR SAME IN ORDER TO RECEIVE FEDERAL FUNDS.
MR. PAULETT STATED THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE LEASE BETWEEN THE CITY AND
COUNTY FOR THE LAND ON WHICH THE LIBRARY IS TO BE 0ONSTRUCTED WHICH THE CITY AND COUNTY
ATTORNEYS WERE REQUESTED TO PREPARE IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. ~T WAS THEN LEARNED THAT
SUCH LEASE HAD NOT BEEN PREPARED AND THE BOARD WAS NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE LOW BID
UNTIL THIS MATTER WAS SETTLED TO THE SATISFACTION OF BOTH BODIES. URo PAUL SUMMERS
AND MR. JACK KEGLEY WERE REQUESTED TO PREPARE SUCH LEASE IMMEDIATELY AND ON MOTION OF
MR. THRAVES~ SECONDED BY UR. YANCEY, THIS BOARDtS LIBRARY COmmITTEE WAS EMPOWERED TO
ACT ON BERALF OF THE COUNTY IN APPROVING SAID LEASE AND THE CITY MANAGER VAS AUTHORIZED
AS FISCAL OFFICER TO SIGN CONTRACT ACCEPTING BID OF R. [. LEE.
THE BOARD WAS REMINDED OF THE JOINT MEETING SCHEDULED WITH CITY COUNCIL AT 3fO0
P,U. ON JULY 2? AT THE AIRPORT.
