The Board was called to confer with ~the BQard of Public Welfare on
State Emer~gency Relief.
On motion of C.Purcell ~cCue and 'seconded by P.H.Gentry, A.L.Bennett
and W.L.~aupin were appointed committee to work out a project to building county
of fi ces,
At a Regular eeting of the Board o~' Supervi~sors' of Albemarle
County, ~Virginia, held at the Court House of said county on the 15~th day of November
1933.

Tl~.e minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
W.~..~Ord ~ ~o. of Charlottesville, ~Virginia, submitted the
board an~offer of $~0,000.0~, Albemarle County, Virginia, ~ Bonds, due January 1st.

Therefore on motion of U.H?anghorne and seconded bY J.A.O'Neil!
it is Unanimously ordered that the County of' ~bemarle purchase the said $OO,O00.OO
of bonds at 105.18 and the Chairman of the finance committee is directed to notifY
the. National Bank and Trust Company of Charlottesville, Virginia, that-the county

will,~ ~¥i~dr~w from the sinking funds of Ivy, Rivanna, amuei Niller, and ~ite Hall
Districts $~4,000,00 on January End. 195~.
In the matter 'of the application of George-~H.Nhitten etc. to
~. establish a public road from Federal State Route ~2~ to Route TS1 through the lands
of J.B.Belk, Club, County ~chool Board of Albemarle County and the
C.& O. Eailway Compaq.
The board doth appoint, P.O,.Minor~, J,O.Thurman,. ~.D,Holladay, S.
T.White a~d J,B~Eegley., resid~ent, free holders o~ this county, any three of whom ~may
ac~, viewers ~o view the route of the said proposed road, and ~report to the Board
as soon ~s practicable the convenience and inconvenience ~that will result as we~l
to individUal~ as to the public, if the Said road shall he establighe~ as proposed,
and especiali~ if any yard, garden or orchard, Of any part thereof will, in such
case, have to be taken, and whether the said road will be of such mere private
convenience as to make it proper that the same shall be established and kept in orde~
by the person oX persons for whose convenience it is desired. They may examine rout~
other tha~ the one proposed and report upon the one they prefer with their reasons
what will be a just compensation to those requiring the same for the landS to be
taken, and the damage to the residue of the tracts beyond thee-peculiar benefits to
be derived in respect to such residue from the road so prgposed. And they will state
any other fact or circumstances useful in enabling the Boa~d to determine 'the
expediency of granting the said application, and they will return with their report
a diagram or map sho~ng the route thereof~ and en estimate of the probable cost of
establishing~ said road.
And the viewers shall meet on the 18th. day of December, 1933,
at Keswick Hunt Club at lO:O0 A.M. and shall file their report with the Clerk of
this Board on or before the EOth day of December 1933.
On motion d~ly seco'nded the Board of Supervisors respectfully
petition the State Highway Commi~ssion to take into the secondary, system of highways
in Albemarle County the following road:--
~ne road from Highway 146 in Samuel Eiller District to the
top of the hill at Reuben Harlow, s property, a distance of about 800 yardS-
on motion of ~V.H.~anghorne and_ seconded by C.PUrcell NcCue
it is unanimously ordered that the expediency of incor2orating into the secondary
system of highways the old Secretary Eoad starting near Er. Whitted~s in Fluvanna
County running through the properties ~of Wm. ~adler, A?.Brawn, ~attie Browning
and Howard RObertson to-its ~.u_n~tion with the cottsv~lte-~oodr~dge Road about
a mile north of Jefferson ~ills be r~efered to Mr. Wm. Gose, state highway
representative~ with the request that he report back to themboard at its regular
December meeting.

board to be known as the Board of .Public Welfare, its members to be appointed
bY the Judge of the Circuit Court of ea~aof the said counties, and
~HEREA~ ~r. John Faris was appointed a member of ~the Albemmrle
county BOard of Public wel2are on April El, 19E3 a~d has served continuously
ever since withoUt intent or expectation of earthly reward, save only just
pride in an outstanding pmblic service.
Therefore be it resolved, that we, the Bo~rd of Supervisors,
representing the Citizens of Albemarle County, by this-means record our
recognition of the valuable services rendered by ~r. Faris to this community
and that we record our sincere and grateful appreciatio~ of his work.
2eSolved, further that a copy of the foregoing resolution a~
preamble be sent to Nr. John Faris.

Your offer to me of the ~o~ty ~xecutiveship of Albemarle was
a very gracious act and it would' greatly please me to accept this
office but due to the large number of unfinished projects now
pending ~n the City, and also to the fac~ that the City Council
is desirous that I continue my work with the City, i regret to ir~orm
you that it will be impossible for me to serve you in the capacity
of County Executive.
