OK – reface only Pole signs may be considered if existing site condi tions rule out the ability to use a monument sign, and only when the pole is in proportion to the sign cabinet or panel. LIGHTING X 8.e.i External illumination (o r no illumination) is preferred for freestanding signs. X 8.e.ii Ground mounted lighting should be shielded by landscaping so that it is not visible from any adjacent property or right - of-way. No refacing design (no combination of colors, images, text and layout) will make the billboard an appropriate appearance. Existing billboards may not increase in size and may not include modifications beyond the existing sign surface. No new illumination of any kind may be added to the billboard. Updated: 9-30-2010 5 REF CHECKLIST ITEM NOTES X (ARB Action Memo: 1/19/10) Reader boards shall have an opaque background. Only the letters may be illuminated, but illumination is not required. Reader boards shall not exceed 40% of the size of the overall sign face. The background color of the reader board shall be black or some other color already on the sign face. Construction of the reader board shall be integral with the main sign. The track holding the letters shall have minimal visual impact. X (ARB Action Memo: 5/4/09) Synthetic stucco is acceptable for signs if mounted on a solid surface such as concrete block and if limited to use as a flat surface as a background for lettering. Styrofoam backing is not acceptable. X Action on ARB- P(BP)-2001-12 Wood Grill Red acrylic #2283 has been determined to be an inappropriate color for signs. Pantone color match for 2283 is 485C. Red #2793 has been approved as an acceptable substitute. Pantone color match for 2793 is 187C. (See below.)
