Margaret,
Understood. I appreciate the feedback/clarification on this.
I've also attached the LOR plan to this email, revised to address all of the comments contained in your staff report. I
would like to point out one deviation from your requested revisions: The applicant, Tommy Shull will be replacing the
gate AND the flanking sections of fence with the wood facade design as shown on the revised LOR plan. With this in
mind, we did not include the planting beds and trees on either side of the gate.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Clint Shifflett, P.E.

Clint,
The criteria are pretty clear about no chain link, even with vinyl slats. Maybe you are referring to the statement, "Vinyl is
generally not appropriate for the EC. It may be considered in situations where it is located at a distance from the EC if..."
Vinyl in that case means a vinyl fence, not vinyl slats in a chain link fence. You are free to ask the ARB about keeping the
current gate in place. The decision will be theirs. I can't think of any examples of gate details that have been approved.
We really don't get many requests for this. If I come up with any examples, I'll bring them to the meeting. I suggest
continuing your research, as well. If you come up with no options, you'll want to let the ARB know that.
Margaret

Margaret,
We appreciate your timely review.
Regarding the gate: I see in the attachment that you provided, that a chain link gate with vinyl slats may be considered
if it is set back from the EC. The gate is set back a fair distance from the road, and black slats have been recently
installed, Is there any way that you would consider allowing the current gate to stay in place?
Regarding an alternative gate if the existing gate is not an option: Do you have examples of a gate, or gate details that
have worked in the past that you could provide us with? I have done some research, but giving that we are in need of a
large, industrial gate, I am having some difficulties sourcing a manufacture that makes a product that would comply.
Thanks,
Clint Shifflett, RE.
