LCU By: -- County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 441 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Voice: (434) 296-5832 Fax: (434) 972-4126 REVISED 11/0212015 Page I of I American Legion Post 74 New Parking Lot Lights for North Lot The North Parking Lot has nineteen (19) parking spaces with, "NO PARKING LOT LIGHTS. Our Plan is to install two (2) Parking Lot light poles, to match the existing parking lot light poles, in the front of the American Legion Post Horne, at 3025 Louisa Road, Keswick, Va 22947, fronting on State Route 22. We will remove the two existing parking lot light pole heads, at the back of the building, and replace these two (2) heads with two (2), Lumenosity Shoebox-175 heads. We will dig a trench along the curb, from the three (3) existing parking lot lights in from of the Post Home to extend the power source to the two (2) new light poles and install two new light poles, "J" bolt mounted in concrete. These two (2) new poles will be spaced the same distance apart as the existing poles in front of the Post Home. The reason we want to move the two (2) light fixture heads from the back of the Post Home is because these fixture heads are no longer available for purchase, and we want all of the light poles on State Route 22 to be the same. The two (2) new Shoebox Heads cannot be seen from State Route 22. This change is for Security and Safety, as the Albemarle Police Department has recommended many times over the past years that we light this parking lot. At our monthly meetings and other events, this lot is usually full. We don't want anything to happen to any of our guest who park in this lot. Directly in front of our American Legion Post Home are three (3) Flag Poles on the left side of the main entrance steps. On the right side of the front entrance steps is a row of small shrubs, (Planter Box as listed on current site plan). The Planter Box is a fire and safety hazard. When guests and members exit their vehicles in front of the building, they have to walk out in the "Drive Lane" to get to the front main entrance steps and porch. The Planter Box with small shrubs is against the wood front porch and is full of Cigarette butts. And, we have put out several small fires there in the past. We want to remove these Small Shrubs "Planter Box" (as listed on the previous plans), on the right side of the main entrance steps and pour a concrete sidewalk to match the concrete sidewalk around the flag poles on the left side of the main entrance steps. This may prevent a front porch fire, and this will make it safer for our guest and members. We are Proud Veterans and Proud of our American Legion Post Home. We have approximately 750 active members who are all War Veterans. Thank You House Committee Chairman, Randy Smith
