A Surgery Center and Clinical Lab have already been constructed and approximately 11,358 SF of medical space is currently being constructed for the University of Virginia. There currently is no lighting in the primary parking area, adjacent to 29N. This creates an unsafe condition for patients and staff. We propose to add three double headed parking lot lighting fixtures(all in the long, north-south island)and one single headed fixture(in the island closest to Rhett's restaurant),all on 26' poles and with concrete bases. The poles and fixtures are bronze and as described in the attached proposal by Moore's Electric. The fixture type is consistent with the few poles we do have behind the Ferguson's and Surgery Center buildings, along the north and east property lines. The second part of the application has to do with the proposed addition of two retractable awnings(no messaging on the awnings)to be placed on the south and west side of the southwest corner of the Rhett's restaurant in Building 2335. There is an existing dining deck on the west side of Rhett's, which was recently damaged by fire. That deck had a pergola over it and a shed at the north end. We have repaired the deck, but removed the pergola and shed. We do not want to rebuild them. Instead we would like to install two retractable canvas (Sunbrella)awnings. They are powered, low profile, and auto-retract in high winds. Each is about 25' long. The one on the south extends out about 6'and the one on the west, up to 12'. A neutral color has been chosen and sample submitted with this application. No landscape changes are proposed. Compatibility with Surrounding Properties in the Entrance Corridor Both pole-mounted parking lot lights and awnings are common in the Entrance corridor. Our awnings can be retracted after close of business for the evening. The color of our poles and fixtures is the same bronze of our existing poles on the perimeter of the property and the most common color used on other existing shopping center properties in the Corridor. Brinkman Reference: Riverside Center Subject: Parking Lot Lighting Dear Norm, We are pleased to present this proposal for the installation of parking lot pole lights as we discussed on site on 5/22/2017. This would include three (3) 2-headed poles in the center island and one (1) single-headed pole in the island near Rhett's located as shown on the attached site plan. Fixture heads will be mounted on 20' high, 4.5" round, straight steel poles set on concrete bases. Fixture submittal is also attached. The cost for this work is$26,650.00(Twenty thousand, six hundred and fifty dollars). Please note the following: 1. Center Island poles are to be fed from the existing house electrical service and will be controlled through the existing outside-lighting timeclock as well as have individual photocells. 2. The single pole in Rhett's island will be fed from the existing receptacle circuit that serves this island;this pole will be controlled by its own photocell. 3. Cost for Permit is included 4. Cost for preparation of Photometric Layout for submission to the County showing all exterior lighting is included; 5. Backfill and compaction of trenches is included; a. Excavated area will be graded"rake finish" b. Excess spoils to be disposed of on site 6. Seeding, fertilizing and/or mulching of trenched areas is not included. 7. Rock removal is excluded. If you have any questions about this proposal, please do not hesitate to call. Very Truly Yours, Alan/B. Fevga+ n. Alan B.
