Thank you for the update. am concerned Sam will not be able to address much since the roof top terraces are a new
endeavor.
Structurally, the supports for the 'gathering area/kitchen space' on the roof of the i5) existing townhouses facing Avon,
provide support for attaching the satellite dish facing directly SW and the dish can be attached low enough to the existing
posts or to the structure itself that the dish will be inconspicuous if painted completely with the same structure paint color.
I asked the Dish rep re: painting, and the dish can be completely painted except for 4 tiny eyes that do all the work to
reach and read the satellite.
I am just worried Sam has not researched as carefully as (ha, desperate me), but maybe I need to have someone stand
on Avon while someone holds an object the height and location as a dish, and take pictures from each direction..... Sigh.
Keep me posted if you can.
Thank you Margaret.

Any response on the satellite dish request, Margaret?
This has been the hardest move I have ever had to do. Not your fault obviously, but oh my.

Sant,
I have been in contact with Marcia Hickory about her proposal to install a satellite dish at 2721 Avinity Lane. I asked the
ARI3 about the proposal yesterday. They expressed concern about the negative impact that visible satellite dishes at
Avinity, or elsewhere, would create on the Entrance Corridors, and they are concerned about establishing a precedent.
The Entrance Corridor guidelines state that visibility of mechanical equipment must be eliminated. I anticipate that Ms.
Hickory's dish will have minimal visibility, but I can't say for sure that visibility will be completely eliminated. If other
owners decide to install satellite dishes, even if minimally visible, the combined impact could be negative.
I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss with you ways that we can ensure that visibility of this type of equipment
can be eliminated, and ways to streamline the approval process. I am available tomorrow morning after 9:00, Thursday
at 2:00, and various times next week. Please let me know if you are available to discuss this issue.
Thanks

This should not result in a parapet that looks over -scaled. Provide site sections
and/or perspective views to clarify visibility of rooftop equipment from 164.
6. Provide complete lighting information for review.
7. Clearly show all existing and proposed utilities and easements on the landscape
plan. Increase planting area to avoid planting and utility conflicts without reducing
the amount
of landscaping proposed.
8. Provide more variety to the shrub species proposed so that the number of
proposed shrubs for any one species is limited to 25% of the total number of
shrubs proposed.
9. Add medium trees along internal pedestrian ways at 25' spacing and 2'/ caliper.
10. Coordinate the plant schedule and the plan regarding the number of Inkberry

11. Clarify on the plans the wooded area to remain and show tree protection fencing.
12. Submit a comprehensive sign plan and design criteria with the next ARB
submittal. Comprehensive sign criteria will need to be approved before final ARB
approval is given for the building and site.
13. Provide a rear elevation of Building C.
40 Regarding conditions to be satisfied prior to issuance of a grading permit:
• Clarify on the plans the wooded area to remain and show tree protection fencing.
Mr. Van Der Werf seconded the motion.
The motion carried by a vote of 3:0. (Wardell absent, Binsted abstain)
Mr. Binsted returned to the meeting at 4:06 p.m.

a. ARB-2016-80 Old Trail Village Entry Signs
Regarding the width of the entry signs, the ARB clarified that the 15' height was acceptable, but
there should be no additional increase in the square footage of the text.
b. 2721 Avinity Lane: Satellite dish installation
It was the consensus of the ARB that a satellite dish is considered equipment and equipment
must not be visible from the Entrance Corridor.
c. Exxon Signs
It was the consensus of the ARB that the wave signs as illustrated in the information presented
at the meeting contribute to visual clutter, make the dispensers appear larger, and look like
excessive signage.

Thank you Margaret. I know One neighbor (only other occupied this far), went with Comcast. Sigh, now I know
why.
Will there be an answer sent along maybe on the 8th? I can't tell you how stressed I am ... The whole build
adventure has been a journey I never would have imagined. I am an organized, detail oriented person. I have
diligently made lists, and lists of lists. All to no avail. Circumstances and more, have been beating me down
from every direction.
I am so grateful to hear from you. I have been without internet for a week and my phone is exhausted trying to
deliver my emails...I only now received your email of 0944! Amazing, but ever so glad it came.
I honestly don't know what I will do if it is rejected. I am ready to crumble with the issues with my build. Not
your problem. I studied every angle of the dish install and thought it was the very best approach- much better
than a Christmas tree on my roof :) Heaven knows I hate the satellite dishes too. I get it!
Thank you so much Margaret.

Marcia,
No need to apologize. I visited the site last week and I contacted the ARB chairperson for direction. I actually had your
application on my list of things to address today. The application is acceptable to be processed, but I need to ask the
full ARB about this at their November 7 meeting. The ARB has been very strict about eliminating visibility of equipment.
Although it may be that there is very limited visibility of your dish, we anticipate that your neighbors will want similar
equipment. We need to be sure that we aren't establishing an unworkable precedent, and 1 need the Board's input to
move forward. I think you've proposed some reasonable treatments for reducing visibility of the dish, but 1 need to get
the Board's input on the 71". If you have questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me again.

Subject: Marcia Hickory Satellite Dish
Attachments: img004 jpg
Margaret,
I had a good meeting with Marcia Hickory on Friday and again today. She agreed to put the dish down low on
the top terrace behind the parapet such that it can not be seen from anywhere below with the exception of about
1/4 mile south on Avon if you look hard enough, perhaps with bonoculars. This will make a good precedent for
other installations along Avon. Please see attached pictures with a proposed new location defined in red, circled
notes.
The homeowners association does regulate dishes in Avinity but the rules are fairly liberal. I think that
establishing this precedent for houses along Avon will remove the need to verify that law allows us to restrict
dish locations. I am not sure where I heard that from.
Marcia was very appreciative of your good help on this. I would guess that an application to the county ARB is
not needed at this point but I will leave that between you and Marcia.
Thanks,
Sam

Fred,
I've received an unusual application. It is a request to install a satellite dish at one of the Avinity townhouses that faces
Avon Street. The applicant's information, attached, suggests that steps are being taken to reduce visibility. Are you OK
with me approving this? I think we can be certain there will be more to follow.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you so much Margaret.
I just didn't know I needed to submit this and consequently, was behind the eight ball anyway. Then, once again, it was
all a challenge and I didn't remember what I needed to do.
Consequently, I submitted it with a prayer and zero confidence. I'm sorry if ' messed it up.
Again, thank you.

I am overwhelmed with work, moving, and trying to star on top of details, So, I was just vvondering...if my

be before my request is processed and I have a decision?
I'm really sorry to bother you. I am grateful for your time, and I thank you.
