GENERAL_ WATER AND SEWER CONDITIONS
1. Work shall be subject to inspection by the Albemarle County
Service Authority inspectors. The contractor will be
responsible for notifying the proper service authority
officials at the start of the work.
2. The location of existing utilities across the line of
the proposed work are not necessarily shown on the plans
and where shown, are only approximately correct. The
contractor shall on his own initiative locate all
underground lines and structures as necessary.
3. All meterials and construction shall comply with General
Water and Sewer Construction Specifications as adopted
by the Albemarle County Service Authority on January 15, 1998.
A. Datum for all elevations shown in National Geodetic Survey.
5. The contractor shall be resposible for notifing
"Miss Utiltiy" (1-800-552-7001).
6. All water and sewer pipes shall have a mimimum of
3 feet of cover measured from the top of pipe, over the
centerline of the pipe, This includes all fire hydrant
lines, service laterals and water lines, etc.
7. All water and sewer appurtenances are to be located
outside of roadside ditches.
8. Valves on deadend line shall be rodded to provide adequate
restraint for the valve during a future extension of the line.

GENERAL_ CONSTRUCTION NOTES FOR SITE (PLANS
1. Prior to commencement of any construction within any existing
public right-of-way, including connection to any existing road,
a permit for said construction shall be obtained from the
Virginia Department of Transportation (hereafter abbreviated V.D.O.T.).
This plan as drawn may not accurately reflect the requirements
of the permit. Where any discrepancies occur the requirements
of the permit shall govern.
2. All paving and drainage related materials and construction
methods shall conform to current specifications and standards
of V.D.O.T. unless otherwise noted.
3. Erosion and siltation control measures shall be provided in accordance
with the approved erosion control plan and shall be installed
prior to any clearing, grading or other construction.
4. All slopes and disturbed areas are to be fertilized„ seeded
and mulched. Maximium allowable slope is 2:1(horizontal:vertical).
Where reasonably obtainable, lesser slopes of 4:1 or
better are to be achieved.
5. Paved, rip -rap or stabilization mat lined ditch may be required
when in the opinion of the Albemarle County Director of
Engineering, or his designee, it is deemed necessary
in order to stabilize a drainage channel.
6. All traffic control signs shall conform with the Virginia
Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices, latest edition.
7. Unless otherwise noted all concrete pipe shall be
reinforced concrete pipe - Class III.
8. All excavation for underground pipe installation must
comply with OSHA Standards for the Construction
Industry (29 CFR Part 1926).

Horizontal Lamp - Square Cutoff Luminaire
MagnuspecTM was specifically designed to illuminate large open spaces -
and it does so with excellent uniformity, Its clean, geometric shape serves as
a quiet complement to any building. Combine this exceptional design with the
most energy efficient and effective light sources available and you'll discover
a truly brilliant performer - Magnuspec from Hubbell Lighting, Inc.
Units are available in arm mount for pole or wail and yoke mount for single
post top applications. Use Hubbell poles to complete the package and have
one point manufacturing and quality assurance.
Housing - Two-piece formed and welded aluminum. Upper housing com-
pletely encloses all electrical components for weathertight protection. Lower
skirt holds reflector lip and lens door assembly. Finish coat of 2 mils mini-
mum Lektrocote- powder, sealed at 400°F to aluminum for 4H pencil
hardness and lasting color.
Lens/Door Assembly - Flat glass lens is secured in a mitered extruded aluminum frame with solid corner key
supports. Four springloaded tool -free cast zinc latches allow door to be opened from either end for quick main-
tenance. Lenses are sealed to housing with a high quality, flexible, silicone gasket.
Ballast - Ballast are high power factor, 180°C insulated, with -20°F starting (-40'°F H,P.S.) 60 Hz standard -50
Hz available - consult factory• Ballastry is mounted to a galvanized internal steel end support which is directly
attached to either arm or yoke mounting component.
Optical - Two optical choices are available. Type III (P) general area distribution for large areas (two units at
1800 create a Type V pattern.) Reflector is hydroformed with protective AnodalO finish. Forward throw, a modi-
fied Type IV (T) distribution, is excellent for perimeter poles on large areas, front row automotive sales lots, tennis
courts or any application where front projection with "house side" control is desired. Reflectors are multi -piece
with.built in house shield system. Both reflector systems are rotatable in 90° segments. Lamps are included for
quality assurance and installer's convenience.
Mounting - Arm mount allows the use of multiple fixtures per pole for higher lighting levels. Arm mounts can
utilize Hubbell's wide selection of arms for additional mounting versatility, Yoke mount features 2" square alu-
minum supports for post top applications on 23/8" O.Q. tenons,
