Margaret,
The 8/7/17 set is the full plan set that was sent out for bid including both VSMP and Site Plan items.
This site plan resubmission breaks out all of the Site Plan specific sheets and excludes VSMP sheets. The only changes to
the those sheets from the 8/7/2017 bid set was a call out of the mechanical unit on C4.0 showing it is behind the
screening wall to address your 8/4 comment#3 and the three changes noted below to address Chris's comment from
8/16.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,
Jonathan

Thank you for your comments.
We have updated the plans per your comments and responses are included under each comment below in blue.
We have heard from Steve Mundt with Gimm and Parker that they have addressed all ARB comments and received a
certificate of appropriateness from Margaret Maliszewski. We have noted the one added mechanical unit on sheet C4.0
indicating that it will be screened by the screening wall which will be designed to match the existing building per the
architectural plans.
Please let us know if you have any question or further comments on these plans or if you would like hard copies for this
review.
If these PDFs are sufficient to confirm remaining comments have been addressed please let me know how many copies
we should submit for signature.
Thank you for your help in wrapping up this project,

Thank you for the update.
We received approval of the VSMP plan per the attached email and we plan to send copies for signature as soon as we
can address any remaining comments on the site plan.
Per ARB comment 3 below we will confirm that we show the location of any new mechanical equipment and screening
on our plans.
Have you received or do you think you will have any additional comments?
Thank you for your help finalizing this plan,
Jonathan

ARB has the following comments:
1. A screen wall has been added west of the addition. Provide updated architectural plans for review.
2. Add the following note to the architectural drawings: "Visibility of all new mechanical equipment from the Entrance
Corridor shall be eliminated."
3. Indicate on the site and architectural drawings the location of new equipment and the method by which visibility will be
eliminated. Note that the preference is for the building itself to accomplish the screening. If a rooftop screen is proposed,
clarify why this is the only viable option and show that the screen is fully coordinated with the architecture.

Chris,
We received comments on the VSMP plan last week and wanted to check on the site plan resubmission to see if you
think you will have any comments. There were no comments on the previous submission but I know the plan has
changed a bit with the removal of the bus loop work and the addition getting smaller.
Bid drawings are due the end of the week so if you do have any comments you can share before that it would be
appreciated.

3.A note on the landscape plan near a maple tree symbol indicates "5" maples; however, 6 are listed in the schedule

Thanks for the heads up Chris.
County Schools was submitting the LOR directly to you all. We were not making that submission.
Our submission, for the front addition, is changing from what was submitted, as the scope has been cut to some
extent. However, we think it makes it easier on the review side, as it reduced the area of impact.

I had been unaware that you had a
set bid date and it was so soon.
With your bid date being so near,
and because I have other project
submissions with mandatory
deadlines that cannot be delayed,
we have asked Sara Baldwin to take
over the review of SDP2017-10
Scottsville ES Sec—Minor.
It is our hope that she will be able
to get your 1st round of comments
to you a little sooner.
I will copy her on this email so that
she will have all of your contact
information.

Craig,
Yes, I will be sending more
comments when they are
available. I hope that will be
sometime next week.
Have you tried a different
browser? I used to use Internet
Explorer and had to start using
something else because it was no
longer able to view County
View. Chrome appears to work for
me these days.

County View does not seem to be
working for me...I've tried coming at it
several different ways (your link,
County website, different browser,
etc.), but no luck.
We did receive the VSMP comments,
which were straight forward. David
James and I have already worked
through one of them, which was the
only one requiring questions.
Paty, will you be sending the other
comments when they are ready?
Thanks so much for everyones
assistance,especially with the quick
turnaround needed on this one to get it
out for bid.
Best,
Craig

RE: Scottsville ES Security— Minor Site Plan Review Comment Response Letter
(SDP201700010)
Dear Ms. Baldwin:
We have reviewed all of your comments from March 23, 2017 and made the necessary
revisions. Please find our responses to the comments below in bold lettering.
CDD Engineering- David James:
I. An approved VSMP plan's required before FSP approval.
Acknowledged.
2. Remove E&SC and SWM plan from site plan (sheets C3.0, C3.I, C3.2, C6.0)
E&SC and SWM plan sheets have been removed from the set.
3. Callout MH-I at connection, and provide a detail.
A cleanout has been added at the connection between the existing 12"steel pipe and
proposed HDPE. See sheet C5.0.
4. Sidewalks abutting parking to be 5' minimum wide with bumper blocks or s/w 6'
minimum (Design manual Sect. 7).
Bumper blocks have been added between parking spaces adjacent to sidewalk. See
sheet C4.0.
5. Include note about the pipe extension and installation.
Note has been added. See sheet C5.0.
6. Sheet C0.0—Source topography says Dec 2017. Provide actual date and existing site
conditions. (18-32.6.2).
Date has been updated on cover Sheet C0.0. Survey data was obtained on December
13, 2016.
CIVIL ENGINEERING I ENVIRONMENTAL I SURVEYING I GIS I LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE I CONSTRUCTION SERVICES
7. Sheet C I.0— Fix the AC SWM notes that are running off sheet (bottom of plan)to fit in
the layout view.
Sheet C I.0 has been revised accordingly.
8. Proposed parking area should not exceed 5%grade in any direction and you are just
exceeding the limit (18-4.12).
Parking slop is a function of the slope of the existing road. Much of this area is already
along the road is already being used as existing gravel parking at the same slope as the
proposed condition. Regrading of the road is beyond the scope of this project.
9. Sheet C4.0 —Show the actual parking spaces for the parking lots, and any existing
pavement markings.
Sheet C4.0 has been revised to show all existing parking spaces and pavement
markings.
10.Sheet L 1.0—The table shows 6 for Red Maple. 5 are called out in the plan, but it
appears that 6 are shown, please revise.
Label has been revised accordingly on Sheet L I.0.
CDD Inspections—Keith Huckstep:
I. Plans dated 02/21/2017 need specifications/drawings of the new 7' and I I'wide
concrete ramps to verify ADA compliance.
Ramps layout and grading are shown on sheets C4.0 & C5.0. The surface will be in
accordance with the sidewalk section and details located on sheet C1.0. Handrail is
detailed on architectural sheet A-9.1 submitted under a separate cover.
CDD Planning—Sarah Baldwin:
. Provide minor Amendment to SDP 1979-42 on front cover.
Sheet C0.0 has been revised accordingly.
2. Provide overall parking count, parking removed and parking spaces added on front
cover.
Overall parking count, parking removed and parking spaces added has been updated
on Sheet C0.0 under"Site Data".
3. Please label security entrance on Sheet C-4.
Security Entrance has been labeled on Sheet C4.0.
4. [4.12.19] Dumpster pad must be screened.
Dumpster pad is shown to be screened with a wooded fence. See Sheet C4.0 for
detail.
'fir11111011'
CDD ARB—Margaret Maliszewski:
. Please add the following note to both the architectural and site plan drawings: "Visibility
of all mechanical equipment from the Entrance Corridor shall be eliminated".
See note #23 under"General Notes"on Sheet C I.0 for revision.
2. Please add the following note to the landscape plan: "All site plantings of trees and shrubs
shall be allowed to reach, and be maintained at, mature height; the topping of trees is
prohibited. Shrubs and trees shall be pruned minimally and only to support the overall
health of the plant".
See last bullet under"Inspections/Guarantee"on Sheet L I.0 for note.
3. A note on the landscape plan near a maple tree symbol indicates "5" maples; however, 6
are listed in the schedule and shown on the plan. Please correct/coordinate.
Label has been revised accordingly.
4. Note that new and replacement signs require a separate permit and review.
Acknowledged.
We have included 6 copies of the plans for your review. If you have any questions or comments,
please feel free to give me a call at 434.964.7148.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Showalter
