Dear Mr. & Mrs. Crane:
The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors, at its meeting on November 13, 1996, took the
following actions regarding the above-noted petitions:
SP-96-35 SUZANNE CRANE - Request for home ocupation Class B for a pottery shop
on approximatley 1 acre. Unanimously approved subject to the following conditions:
I. The entrance onto Route 743 and the applicable properties shall be maintained
such that sight distance is optimized, providing a minimum of250' of sight
distance;
2. Vehicles with trailers and/or vehicles with more than two axles shall not be used
at the subject location more than once per month in conjunction with the home
occupation;
3. Studio/kiln openings shall be allowed only if adequate parking can be arranged
either on-site or off-site and there shall be not more than four, one-day events per
year. The permittee shall provide to the Zoning Administrator evidence of
adequate on-site or off-site parking;
4. Submission ofa Certified Engineer's Report indicating that the regulations of the
State Air Pollution Control Board will be met by the proposed kiln to be filed by
the applicant and approved by the County Engineer prior to the issuance of a
zoning compliance clearance;
5. Not more than two apprentices shall be allowed at one time."

SP-96-36 MATTHEW CRANE: Request for a Home Occupation Class B for
equipment storage for a home building business. Unanimously approved subject to the
following conditions:
1. The entrance onto Route 743 and the applicable properties shall be maintained
such that sight distance is optimized, providing a minimum of 250' of sight
distance;
2. Vehicles with trailers and/or vehicles with more than two axles shall not be used
at the subject location more than once per month in conjunction with the home
occupation.
In the event that the use, structure or activity for which this special use permit is issued shall not
be commenced within eighteen (18) months after the issuance of such permit, the same shall be
deemed abandoned and the authority granted thereunder shall thereupon terminate. For purposes
of this section, the term "commenced" shall be construed to include the commencement of
construction of any structure necessary to the use of such permit within two (2) years from the
date of the issuance thereof which is thereafter completed within one (1) year.
Before beginning this use, you must obtain a zoning clearance from the Zoning Department.
Before the Zoning Department will issue a clearance, you must comply with the conditions in
