Dear Mr. Perez:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Shimp Engineering, revised 26
May 2017, and finds it to be generally acceptable.
Please include the Access Management Exception Request approval letter on the final site plan.
Upon submission of the appropriate signed and sealed approval copies this office will perform a
final review and, if acceptable, sign the plans. Please allow for this office to obtain two signature
copies. If further information is desired, please contact Justin Deel at 434-422-9894.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section at (434)422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.

The Dep • ent of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Sectio., as reviewed the above referenced AM-E request. The only practical mitigation, due to
the .arcel's limited frontage, would be a shared entrance with the neighboring parcel. We
derstand this option was explored and was denied by the neighboring parcel's owner. Further,
the proposed entrance is not out of character from existing entrances in the vicinity on
Commonwealth Drive. Therefore, the Department has approved AM-E request.

Quick status update for you on the above plan set. What I am waiting on prior to approval is: 1) VDOT approval
and 2) Engineering approval.
All other approvals are in. I am not sure where the pending reviewers are at in their review, especially VDOT
with an exception request. I've CCed the respective parties to this email but the 20th is cutting it uncomfortably
close.

Thanks for the call. Evidently,the County did receive a revised plan set on 6-6-17 that is dated 5-26-17; however,the
comment response/cover sheet on top of the stack was addressed to Engineering.That combined with a bunch of new
folks working the front desk and the revised plans were distributed to engineering instead of me for distribution. Glad we
got on top of this now otherwise it might not have been caught until Engineering started their review of the revisions.
VDOT/Justin Deel-are we good,can you conduct your review now?
ACSA/Alex Morrison-you emailed and said you have the plan set. -'c Pet-e (115-17
Engineering/David James-I'll distribute you one copy of this set.

I just got a call from Justin Deel of VDOT stating he is about to review a revised hard copy plan set dated 5-26-17 for
Commonwealth Apartments that I distributed to him. Notably, I do not have a copy of the 5-26-17 plan set for review, it
was not distributed to me, nor did I distribute such a plan set to VDOT or any other reviewer.
Upon his phone call I began looking through my emails to see if anything has come from you,as the last round of
comments went out on this 5-24-17.That's when I discovered the email below sent 6-6-17. Please advise on the above
situation?

Hello All,
I've attached a PDF of the plan which we dropped off at the County and ACSA today. I've sent this around separately
already and received an email confirmation that everything looks good from Alex,Justin and David.Adam's blessing(and
thus VDOT's) is still waiting on a traffic study which Adam just left me some instructions on today. I will do my best to
get that out tomorrow.
I realize that the plan probably has to get from Chris to the other reviewers before we get an official sign off but we are
under a bit of a time crunch and and anything that can be done to assist Chris P. in getting the file closed out would be
much appreciated. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to assist in that process.
