Dear Ms. Borgersen:
On behalf of Crozet New Town Associates, the owner of the Barnes Lumber Property, I am writing
to request that the Board of Supervisors defer required action on ZMA201000018 until December
12, 2018.
This application has been under review, it several different iterations, for several years. After much
work with the Crozet Community Advisory Committee, County Staff, VDOT and other agencies and
stakeholders, we believe we have presented a concept plan that has broad support by both staff
and the community. Our current process timeline requires that the application be heard by the
Planning Commission in December 2017, or the application will expire. The application, however, is
strongly tied to the 2017-2018 VDOT Revenue Sharing request being made by the County and our
ability to secure the necessary right-of-way from two landowners with property in the path of the
proposed Library Avenue Extension.
We are making this deferral request in order to allow time to secure right-of-way commitments
from affected property owner, and for the County to receive notification from VDOT on Revenue
Sharing requests for downtown Crozet that were submitted on November 1s' of this year. Both
these intiatives impact important aspects of both our proffers and concept plan.
My sincere hope is that we can resubmit in the next two to three months, but want to allow
appropriate time for other possible delays. I understand that staff supports this request.
