Dear Mr. Wentland:
The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Shimp Engineering, P.C., dated
November 1, 2017 and offers the following comment.
Land Use
1. Crozet Court cuI-de-sac; for circular turnarounds on short low volume residential cul-de-
sac streets, the 45 ft. minimum radius may be reduced to 30' feet when specifically
approved by the locality in consultation with emergency services. Please provide
documentation on approval from emergency services.
2. Plan set is missing sheet C4.
3. Please show that Jamestown road warrants GR-2; please refer to the VDOT GRIT
manual.
4. Recommend eliminating ramps at the intersection of Crozet Court and Jamestown Road.
The entrance ramps will suffice as crosswalks.
5. Sidewalk is outside of right of way and will not be eligible for maintenance.
6. Discrepancies in right of way, doesn't match typical sections.
7. Please provide storm sewer calculations and plot HGL on storm profiles.
Please provide copy of the revised Road Plans along with a comment response letter. If further

A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section at (434) 422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
