Survey information is based on NAD 1983 Virginia South State Plane Coordinates for horizontal control, and on U.S. Geodetic Survey datum (NAVD88) for vertical control. All materials and construction shall comply with the current edition of the General Water and Sewer Construction Specifications as adopted by the Albemarle County Service Authority, unless otherwise noted. 3. Work shall be subject to inspection by Albemarle County Service Authority inspectors. The Contractor will be responsible for notifying the proper Service Authority officials at the start of the work. 4. The location of existing utilities are shown as approximate in Ilocation, and are based on utility designations performed under Miss Utility of Virginia Designer Ticket Nos. A621700832 and A621700840 (dated August 2016). In areas where existing water mains were not marked under the design ticket, GIS or existing record information was utilized to indicate the presence of and show approximate locations. The Contractor shall be responsible for the verificatlion of the location, size and depth of all existing utilities, both surface and subsurface. The Contractor shall immediately notify the Engineer of any discrepancies between the plans and observed field conditions. 5. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE AWARE THAT EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES MAY EXIST WITHIN THE WORK AREA, WHICH ARE NOT INDICATED ON THE PLANS AND/OR ARE UNMARKED IN THE FIELD. The Contractor shall exercise caution during excavations, and use due diligence to protect all utilities and structures from damage at all times. Damage to any existing utilities, structures, poles, guy wires, or other features shall be repaired by the Contractor to the original condition at no additional cost to the Owner. 6. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying Miss Utility of Virginia (811 or 1-800-552-7001) sufficiently in advance of the start of construction, in accordance with Section 01500 of the Specifications. 7. All water mains shall have a minimum of three and one-half (3-1/2) feet of cover measured from the top of pipe, over the centerline of pipe. This includes all fire hydrant lines, service laterals and waterlines, etc. 8. All appurtenances (such as valves and valve boxes, hydrants, meter boxes, and meter vaults) are to be located outside of roadside ditches. 9. Contractor shall locate all existing water service lines and saniltary laterals that will be impacted by construction, and ensure all existing services are re -connected. Field adjustments shall be made for any new appurtenance (such as a bend or a valve) that may be found to be in conflict wilth existing conditions. 10. Upon completion of new water service installations, all existing water service lines, meters, setters and meter boxes shall be abandoned and/or removed in accordance with the details and project Specifications, unless rntherwise noted. 11. Elevations of all utilities are unknown unless indicated with an invert elevation. The Contractor shall confirm existing utility elevations sufficiently in advance of installing proposed water mains, and deflect the pipe vertically (as required) in order to provide minimum clearances of 18 inches for sanitary sewers/laterals and 12 inches for all other utilities, at no additional cost to the Owner. 12. Trenching for pipe installation shall be in accordance with Trench Detail shown on Sheet 8. Trench restoration for water main installations in pavement areas along public roads shall be in accordance with the VDOT Land Use Permit Asphalt Pavement Restoration Detail for Open Cut Utility Installations. 13. Pavement areas outside the areas of construction which are damaged as a result of hauling materials and equipment, shall be restored to the satisfaction of VDOT, at no additional cost to the Owner. 14. The Contractor shall be responsible for maintaining access to fall properties; coordinating with all property owners to have pavement edges cleared of all vehicles, as required, in advance of pipe laying operations; and coordinating with all property owners for temporary access and temporary water service interruptions during re -connection. The Contractor may elect tto restrict parking on both sides of the road in order to maintain traffic at all times. 15. All flagging operations and appropriate temporary traffic contr(ol measures shall be installed and maintained in accordance with the Virginia Wc)rk Area Protection Manual, latest edition, subject to the approval of the VDOT Inspector. Anyone performing flagging operations must be certified, and possess a valid and verifiable certification card with them whenever they are performing flagging operations. Only persons completing approved Work Zone Traflfic Control training courses and possessing the appropriate valid and verifiable acccreditation card will be permitted to oversee temporary traffic control activities. 16. The Contractor shall be responsible for restoring all disturbed ureas to their original elevations, unless otherwise indicated on the drawings. 17. The Contractor shall be responsible for removing and placing Eexisting items, as required to facilitate water main construction, at no additional cost to the Owner. Such items include, but are not limited to: posts, bollards, fenices, railings, guardrails, mailboxes, signs, newspaper boxes, property pins, rmonuments, benchmarks, utility poles, guy wires, pedestals, cabinets, curbs„ gutters, driveways, paved flumes or other drainage structures, retaining walls, lancdscaping, sprinklers, etc. Any items damaged during removal or re-insVallation shall be replaced with materials of equal or better quality by the Contractor, at no additional cost to the Owner. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN (WP0201700047) BARTERBROOK PHASE 2 WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT (ACSA PROJECT NO. 2017-02) EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN SOLOMON ROAD 1. The Contractor shall be required to provide erosion and sediment control measures during all phases of the work. All erosion and sediment control measures shall be in accordance with Section 02370 of the Specifications. 2. Unless otherwise indicated, all vegetative and structural erosion and sediment control practices shall be constructed and maintained according to minimum Standards and Specifications of the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook, latest edition applicable Erosion and Sediment Control Technical Bulletins, and the Albemarle County Design Standards Manual, latest edition_. 3. The Contractor shall apply permanent or temporary soil stabilization to all disturbed areas within 7 days after final grade is established on any portion of the site. Soil stabilization must also be applied to disturbed areas, which may not be at final grade, but which will remain undisturbed for longer than 14 days. Permanent stabilization s hall be applied to areas that are to be left dormant for more than one (1) year. Soil stabilization measures shall include (but not limited to) vegetative establishment, mulching, anld the early application of gravel base material on areas to be paved. 4. All erosion and sediment control measures shall be placed prior to, or as the first step in construction. 5. All erosion and sediment control measures shall be inspected daily by the Site Superintendent or his representative, and after each runoff producing rainfall event. Any necessary repairs to maintain the effectiveness of the erosion control devices and cleanup of sedimentation are the responsibility of Albemarle County Service Authiority's Contractor and shall be made by the close of the working day. 6. Sediment shall be removed from paved areas on a daily basis. 7. Stock piles of soil and other erodible materials shall be stabilized or protected with sediment trapping measures. The Contractor is responsible for the ternporary protection and permanent stabilization for stockpiles onsite as well as for materials transported from the project site. 8. The Contractor shall monitor and take precautions to control dust, including (but not limited to) use of water, mulch and control of construction site traffic. g. It is Albemarle County Service Authority's Contractor's responsibility to cllean streets of mud and dust and take whatever measures necessary to insure that the streets are kept in a clean and dust free condition at all times. 10. Effluent from dewatering operations shall be filtered or passed (or both) through an approved sediment trapping device, and discharged in a manner that does not adversely affect adjacent properties, wetlands, waterways, or the storm drainage :system. 11. The Contractor is responsible for installation and maintenance of any additional control measures necessary to prevent erosion and sedimentation as required based on field conditions or as determined necessary by the Albemarle County Service Authority Inspector, and at no additional cost. 12. Temporary erosion and sediment control measures shall not be removed until all disturbed areas upstream of them are stabilized. After stabilization is complete, with the approval of the Albemarle County Service Authority Inspector, all measures shall be removed within 30 days. Trapped sediment shall be spread and seeded. 13. Erosion and sediment controls may only be removed after areas above them have been stabilized and with the approval of the Albemarle County Service Authority Inspector. 14.
