You have been in contact previously with my supervisor, Margaret Maliszewski, but I have been given the project today. And between leaving you that telephone message and drafting this email, I have discovered something: I believe the building you wish to alter lies within the boundaries of the City of Charlottesville, an independent municipality, not the County of Albemarle. The address on your application is 355 Albemarle Square. Since the 1990s, I recall that this was, indeed, an Outback Steakhouse. But you can see from this Google Maps Street View image (take June 2017), that location is closed: The new Outback Steakhouse (pictured below) is located at 1101 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22901 This location lies within the City's boundaries. Therefore, you will have to seek a permit through their Neighborhood Development Services department: http://www.charlottesville.org/departments-and-services/departments-h- z/neighborhood-development-services Please contact someone there to ask about whether there are design regulations for this parcel and how to apply for a permit. I hope this clarifies some outstanding confusion. Please let me know if I have mistaken anything.
