Virginia 22701 February 2, 2018 County of Albemarle Department of Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 Attn: Margaret MaIiszewski Re: Shadwell Estates & Clifton Inn — Zoning Map Amendment ZMA-2017-00009 Review #1 Dear Ms. Maliszewski: The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use Section, has reviewed the above referenced plan as submitted by Meridian Planning Group, LLC, dated 8 November 2017, and offers the following comments: 1. Based on our phone conversation with Mr. Tim Miller, we understand that Clifton Inn Lane is not intended to be a publicly maintained street. Additionally, based on the limited information on this plan it does not appear that, as proposed, the street would be eligible for Secondary Street Acceptance as it does not meet the requirements of the VDOT Road Design Manual nor does it satisfy SSAR connectivity requirements. 2. The intersection of Route 729 and Clifton Inn Lane must show conformance with the VDOT Road Design Manual Appendices B(1) and F, as well as any other applicable standards, regulations or other requirements. 3. Show route number, street name, ADT, ROW width, design and posted speeds, and public/private on plans for each street, existing and proposed. Please provide two copies of the revised plan along with a comment response letter. If further information is desired, please contact Justin Deel at 434422-9894. A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way.
