Dear Mr. David James,
On behalf of the University of Virginia Foundation, Dewberry Engineers Inc. is pleased to submit for your
review and approval the final plans for the UVAF Temporary Golf Course Connector Road. A copy of the
Final Design (t00%) plans signed March 14, 2018 are being submitted electronically for your review.
Below are the comments along with responses that were received from your review dated March 8th, 2018.
3. Sheets C3.01/C3.02 —
a. (Rev.1) Show the hatched area of managed slopes as shown in the County's GIS steep
slope overlay.
(Rev.2) Not Addressed. Show steep slopes along Golf Course Dr.
(Rev.1) Dewberry Response: Hatching is already shown and called out for protection on
sheet C3.02 (i.e. "PROTECT EXISTING STEEP SLOPES (TYP.)'). Hatching for steep
slopes has been added to the legend on sheet C3.02.
(Rev.2) Dewberry Response: Steep slope hatching is now shown along Golf
Course Drive as necessary.
5. Sheets C4.01/4.02 —
a. (Rev.1) Show & label signage. Street/address and stop signs at every intersection (typ.
placed opposite sides), speed limit on all streets, etc.
(Rev. 2) Partially addressed. Street names can be finalized later, but street
sign locations must be shown on plan.
(Rev.2) Dewberry Response: Stop sign locations can be found on sheet C4.02 (see sign
schedule). Being that this road is a temporary connection in its current configuration, road
names have not been determined at this time. Street names signs will be installed as part
of final development (by others). Also, the custom private signage for the speed limits will
be included as part of the overall masterplan of the golf course and have not been included
with this submission.
(Rev.2) Dewberry Response: The location of the street name signs are now
indicated on sheet C4.02.
9. (Rev.1) Ensure that the street grade is less than 4% for a minimum of 40' from edge of pavement
of the intersected street. It appears that the intersection at Golf Course Dr. may exceed that
(Rev.2) Not addressed. Grade from intersection should meet the <4% for 40',
measured from the edge of street or road being intersected.
(Rev.1) Dewberry Response: Profiles were provided in the previous submission on Sheet C5.02.
Labeling has been added to the profiles to demonstrate the compliance of the grades at street

intersections. Note that the -5.31% grade at the end of the Squash Access Road is due to the fact
that the baseline is not at a goo angle to the golf course connector baseline.
Rev.2) Dewberry Response: The Golf Course Drive profile maintains <4 % grade for
at least 40' from the edge of the Connector Road, as shown in the attached
spreadsheet. The profile does not reach 4 % until it meets the edge of pavement of the
Connector Road (Sta. 12+77.64) in order to match the superelevation rate (4%).
16. (Rev.2) Show & label the Golf Cart Path & street names at the stations of intersection
on the Roadway Profiles sheets.
Rev.2) Dewberry Response: Cart path and street names have now been added to the
roadway profiles at intersections.
17. Show any utility crossings in the drainage profiles.
Rev.2) Dewberry Response: The water line crossing with i-i to 1-2, has been included
on the profile on sheet C9. o8A. This utility crossing will be relocated by others under
separate cover
18. (Rev.2) Show type of lining used for constructed ditches.
Rev.2) Dewberry Response: The ditch lining type has been called out for all ditches
on sheet C7.02.
19. (Rev.2) Remove approval's block (not required for road plans).
(Rev.2) Dewberry Response: The approval block has been removed from the sheet
Ti.oi.
