March 5 isn't going to work. 1 understood that the proposal was changing from asking for a non -approved color for the
tenant panels to revising the comprehensive criteria for the freestanding signs. I understood that we were waiting for a
final proposal with documentation of sign -off by the property owner/ shopping center management. Then we'll prepare
a staff report for the ARB. Once we have everything we need to proceed, I can set the meeting date.

Got it, that makes perfect sense. Attached is the revised diagram calling out the locations of all (4) freestanding signs
along Rt 29.
In the interest of time I have asked the property manager to revise their letter to indicate that they are aware of the

Beth - Sorry that I was not more clear in my comment regarding the "Site Plan" revision needed. I was referring to
revising the "Site Plan" in your original application (see image below) to show the location of all four existing signs — not
just the two in your proposal. All four signs are subject to the requirements of the comprehensive sign criteria so their
locations need to be referenced in your request — in a general graphic form (not a surveyed location). Revising the "site
plan" you provided seemed to be the easiest way to do that.
Your attached property manager's letter does not indicate he is aware there are existing comprehensive sign criteria,
previously approved by the owner, that would need to be amended. I have copied Margaret Maliszewski so she can
determine, when she returns on Tuesday, if a revised letter is required. Also, Margaret is the staff person who will
determine the date this goes to the ARB.

Please accept this email as my formal request for review by the ARB of the following:
Addition of Green PMS 3425 as an additionally permitted text color on the Hollymead Town Center freestanding
signs. This color would be in addition to the previously approved Red PMS 187. The background color of the panels
are to remain the previously approved white.
This criteria would apply to all four of the freestanding signs, however our application is for modification of (2) sign
structures (Al and A2).
Attached is a letter from the property owner affirming their support of the application.
May I ask why a site plan is required? I will obtain a site plan and note the locations of all four freestanding signs along
the route 29 right-of-way if necessary, but the signs are existing and their location was previously reviewed by Zoning
and the ARB.

Beth - Your email indicates your client for the above -noted sign application, is unwilling to revise the proposed design
to be consistent with the approved comprehensive sign criteria for this location. As a result, I am not able to
administratively approve this application at this time. You indicated the client would like to have the Architectural
Review Board amend existing criteria to include Green Pantone 3425 as an additional permitted text color.
I will need the following items to process your request for review by the ARB:
1. A letter/email from you with a description of your request:
a. An amendment to the existing Hollymead Town Center, Area B comprehensive sign criteria to allow
Green Pantone 3425 as a permitted text color in addition to the previously approved Red Pantone 187.
The background panel color is to remain the previously approved white.
b. These criteria shall apply to all four of the existing freestanding tenant panel sign structures in Area B. It
is understood your proposal is only for two of the four sign structures.
2. A revised site plan drawing showing the location of all four freestanding tenant panel sign structures along the
Route 29 right-of-way in Area B. There are additional sign structures near the intersection of Town Center Drive
and next to the Target building.

Beth - I have reviewed the above -noted sign application. The following revisions are requested to make the proposal
consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines.
Approved Comprehensive Sign Criteria (CSC) for the freestanding tenant panel signs at Hollymead Town Center,
Area B (attached) require that the background be white and the text red. Proposed sign drawings for both Sign A-
1 and Sign A-2 show a white background with green text. Please be advised, the Architectural Review Board has
the legal authority to impose its guidelines on the design elements of an exterior sign where the sign (sign color
In this case) is a registered trademark.
a. Revise the sign drawings to show all red text on the white background. Include a note on the drawing
stating the tenant panel background is to be white and the text red.
