Project Summary The site is currently an animal shelter and parking lot. The proposed development includes additions, parking lots, and associated infrastructure/site work. Limits of Clearing and grading is 2.5 Acres. The site has three major outfall locations, these are a conveyance system in Berkmar Drive, a 30" RCP culvert, and the existing stormwater management system on site. The three outfalls ultimately discharge into a manmade ditch that drains to Keglers Pond. The downstream condition beyond the site outfall is a series of manmade stormwater conveyance systems. The proposed limit of analysis is the existing stormwater management pond (Referenced as the Regional Keglers Pond), which was studied under the Berkmar drive north extension existing "Keglers: Detention Basin Analysis" by Albemarle County Engineering Department (March 1994). The conveyance system from the discharge culvert through the manmade channel into the pond was recently analyzed by Harvest Moon Phase 1 (WPO 201600011) to demonstrate adequacy of the conveyance systems to Keglers Pond. The proposed outfall condition reduces the 1 and 10 year peak discharge. Maintenance Items The stormwater management systems (Stormceptor & Underground detention) shall be inspected quarterly for the first year after installation to establish a long term maintenance schedule. It is recommended that the stormceptor unit be cleaned via VAC Truck once the sediment in the unit has reached 15% of the Stormceptor units total storage (Refer to Figure below). Suggested detention pipe maintenance schedule is also shown below. Inspection Activities Suggested Schedule • After several storm events or an extreme storm event, inspect for: signs of clogging of the inlet or outlet structures and sediment accumulation. As Needed • Inspect for: trash and debris: clogging of the outlet structures and any pilot channels: excessive erosion; sediment accumulation in the basin and inlet/outlet structures, tree growth on dam or embankment; the presence of burrowing animals; standing water where there should be Slim-annuail,. none; vigor and density of the grass turf on the basin side slopes and floor; differential settlement; cracking. leakage; and slope stability. • Inspect that the outlet structures, pipes, and downstream and pilot channels are free of debris and are operational. • Note signs of pollution, such as oil sheens, discolored water, or unpleasant odors. Maintenance Activities Suggested Schedule • Perform structural repairs to inlet and outlets Monthly or as needed • Clean and remove debris from inlet and outlet strictures. • Repair damage to inlet and outlet structures, control gates, valves, or other mechanical devices; repair undercut or eroded areas. Stormwater Model The stormwater analysis for the site was performed with Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis software for hydrology, conveyance, and routing. The model is created to match the proposed design of the site stormwater systems. 1. The rainfall model uses a 24-hour Type II storm distribution, with a depth based on NOAA data 2. Inlet shaping is proposed within the project design documents and considered in the model. 3. Inlets are modeled with a localized depression 4. On -grade inlets are modeled with a gutter/channel bypass system to provide a route for any discharge that is not captured within the inlet. The bypass system uses a generic shape to provide a conveyance route. 5. The model elements are labeled to match the design documents. a. A prefix of "G" indicates a gutter/bypass system for an on -grade inlet b. A prefix of "S" indicates a subbasin for an inlet or node c. A prefix of "Out" indicates an outfall point of a drainage system, which has a direct connection to the "Outfall Channel" to the point of analysis. d. A prefix of OFF denotes offsite area. e. A prefix of J indicates a junction where flows are combined.
