I have reviewed your recent resubmittal for the above -referenced project, which included a site plan with revision date of
6/8/18. I have the following comments:
Previous comments on the architectural design have not been addressed, but must be prior to issuance of a Certificate of
Appropriateness and final site plan approval:
1. The architectural elevations note Norman brick for some wall surfaces. Note on the drawing the brick
manufacturer and color. Provide a sample for review.
2. Material samples were previously provided for new Ground Fiandre Anthracite Ground honed finish and Fibre C
by Rieder. Clarify whether these materials are still proposed to be used.
3. The drawings note that the glass as Solarban 70 XL type EW-2. The glass sample previously submitted was
Solarban 60. Please describe the difference in appearance between the, two glasses and indicate if the 70 XL is
tinted. If it is tinted, or if there is any other difference in appearance, provide a sample of the 70 XL for review.
4. Note that the signs illustrated on the architectural drawings have not been reviewed and a separate sign
application will be required.
5. The architectural elevations note an "embedded structural glass balustrade," a "guard rail with clear glazing
infill," and a "glass guardrail with 1" aluminum cap". If these are intended to be the same design, revise the notes
on the architectural drawings to use a consistent name. Provide the architectural detail(s) for review.
Site
6. We requested that you revise the pole light color from gray to bronze. The revised plan specifies pole color as
black, and you've indicated that adjacent properties will upgrade to black. The ARB's direction to switch to
bronze was based on the need to coordinate with the existing context. Please revise the pole color to bronze.
Architecture/Site
7. The site plan notes the glass balustrade at the retaining wall on the west side of the building and handrails at the
retaining walls at the front and east side of the site. The architectural elevations note a glass guardrail at the
retaining wall on the east side of the building, and show no railing at the wall on the west side. If there is a
"handrail" with a design different than that of the glass balustrade, include the handrail detail in the site and
architectural drawings and illustrate and label the handrail location(s) consistently throughout both sets of
drawings. Illustrate and label the balustrade location(s) consistently on both sets of drawings.
Please provide:
1. One set of revised drawings addressing each of these conditions. Include updated revision dates on each drawing.
2. A memo including detailed responses indicating how each condition has been satisfied. If changes other than those
requested have been made, identify those changes in the memo also. Highlighting the changes in the drawing with
"clouding" or by other means will facilitate review and approval.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal_" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to ensure
proper tracking and distribution.
When staffs review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued.

Site
5. The EC guidelines call for brown, bronze or black pole lights. Pole lights on adjacent properties appear to be
bronze. Please revise the pole light color from gray to bronze.
6. The proposed area of work exceeds the parcel boundaries of 78-15E. Consequently, the project limits note that
points to the parcel line on Sheet 2 is inaccurate. Eliminate or correct the note.
Architecture/Site

Site
5. The site plan notes that the front retaining wall will be faced with Norman brick with a mottled color. Revise the
notes to just state that the retaining wall brick will match the building brick. Repeat this note at the retaining wall
on the east side of the building.
6. On the Existing Conditions & Demolition Plan, the project limits note points to the parcel line. Please correct to
identify the actual project limits.
7. Shrubs were added at the west end of the display area, but they don't wrap the corner. Continue the shrubs around
the northwest corner of the display area.
8. The lighting plan includes no photometrics. Fixture cut sheets are missing from the lighting plan. Please submit ;i
complete lighting plan for review.
9. Increase the planting height of the shrubs along the retaining wall on the east side of the building to 24".
Architecture/Site

name. Provide the architectural detail(s) for review. Show the balustrade/guard rail on the site plan and provide a

11. Notes on Site Plan Sheet 3 label two "proposed architectural courtyard features — see architectural plans." Please
submit the architectural plans that address these features. If there are features other than the paving/surface and
planting, show them on the site plan and label them.
12. A note on Sheet 3 states that the display area paver color is to match the building showroom tile. Revise the note
to indicate the tile name, manufacturer and color. Provide a sample (if other than the previously provided Ariostea
TeknoStone in Tobacco).
13. A note on Sheet 4 states that the pavers for the display area are to match the building material. Please see the
comment above and adjust this note accordingly.
14. A note on Sheet 3 states that the sidewalk tile is to match the building finishes. Please revise the note to clarify
which material the the will match. If other than the building brick, indicate the sidewalk material by name,
manufacturer and color, and provide a sample for review.
15. Identify on the plan the element called out in the image below. If this element is above ground and visible,
provide details.
