RE: ARB-2018-98: The Blake of Charlottesville Signs (045000000026A3, 045000000026136)
Dear Steve,
We have received your above -referenced sign application. The application was incomplete. The following
items were missing from your submittal:
1. The $129 ARB review fee.
2. To -scale color illustrations of the proposed signs.
3. Indication of all proposed sign materials on the drawings.
To make the application complete, please submit the above -noted items and note the following details:
• Include a note with the check indicating that the payment is associated with ARB-2018-98.
Regarding sign materials, please revise the illustrations of the signs to indicate all proposed
materials (overall sign face, tenant panels, Oakleigh panel, letters on the Blake sign, the tree
graphic, etc.) and use call -outs to show their locations. Include a note on the Oakleigh and Blake
drawings identifying the manufacturer and color of the brick used for the bases. If the brick
matches that approved for buildings on site, that information may be noted. If the brick differs
from that approved for buildings on site, provide a sample for review.
• Provide additional information to clarify the proposed "foam base material" (manufacturer, which
part of the sign it applies to, etc.).
I have reviewed the submitted information for conformity with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines.
The following revisions are required to make the proposal consistent with those guidelines. (Note that
additional comments may be generated once the application is made complete and re -submitted.)
4. The tenant panels must have some level of coordination in design. You are not required to
provide the actual text for each tenant panel at this time, but the overall design must be
established now. Indicate proposed materials, colors, and any other proposed design parameters.
Clearly show how a level of coordination will be achieved.
5. Please provide the drawings labeled as Al, A3, B1, B2 and DI at a larger size for improved
legibility. Note that these drawings should be to scale.
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this letter indicating whether you will or will not
proceed with these revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60-day review period
associated with your original submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please send the revised
drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your
application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the
application without further revisions.
