RE: Zoning 04200-00-00-10000 2285 Whippoorwill Road
Hello Jennifer,
Thanks for getting in touch.
Yes, we like for people to touch base with a staff person before applying for a few reasons. We want to make sure that
the proposal in general qualifies as something that would be permitted, that the correct form is submitted, and that the
application process and submittal requirements are understood.
We put together a "can do" and "can't do" list that can be found on our webpage below. You may rent up to 5 guest
rooms with an owner/manager present during rental. We have discussed changing the zoning ordinance and had a work
session last week to allow a limited number of days per year for properties to be rented without the owner present.
That is still being discussed though and we do not when or if changes will be adopted. The report and board discussion
can be found at the link below.

Since your property is zoned Rural Areas, you would submit the bed and breakfast form:

ed_and_Breakfast.pdf
If you would like, we can set up a quick meeting to go over everything if you still have questions.
We did receive a concern through our zoning complaint system. You will likely be contacted by a code compliance officer
(copied) regarding that complaint.

Subject: Zoning
Hi Rebecca,
I left you a voicemail yesterday and just wanted to follow up via email. We are interested in getting approval for
transient lodging. I see that the first step is to contact you to see if zoning ordinance requirements are met.
We did not realize there was a process for this and obviously want to follow the rules. While this is our home and where
we raise our four children, we had hoped on renting several times/year.
Can you please tell me what information you need to see if we meet the requirements? We live in the county and have
tried looking it up, it looks like we are zoned "rural". We are in Whippoorwill Hollow and do not have an HOA. Our
address is 2285 Whippoorwill Rd.
My cell phone number is 434-996-7640 if you need to contact me.
Thanks so much for your time.
