Pursuant to the following notice which was hand delivered to Board
members, a special called meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle
County, Virginia, was held on June 29, 1990, at 7:30 A.M., Meeting Room #5/6,
County Office Building, 401McIntire Road, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dear Miss Neher:
The County Executive has requested a special meeting of the Board of
Supervisors for June 29, 1990, at 7:30 A.M. in Room 5/6 of the County
Office Building for the purpose of meeting with the School Board in
Executive Session to discuss acquisition of property for public
purposes relating to the site for the urban area elementary school.
We so request that you call a meeting for this purpose.

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Messrs. Edward H. Bain, Jr., David P. Bowerman,
F. R. Bowie, Mrs. Charlotte Y. Humphris, and Mr. Walter F. Perkins.
BOARD MEMBER ABSENT: Mr. Peter T. Way.
OFFICERS PRESENT: Mr. Ray B. Jones, Deputy County Executive; and
Mr. George R. St. John, County Attorney.
Agenda Item No. 1. Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at
7:35 A.M. by the Chairman, Mr. Bowie.
Agenda Item No. 2a. Joint Meeting with the School Board - Executive
Session: Acquisition of Property for Public Purpose~
SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Messrs. Richard A. Bagby, William W.
Finley, Clifford W. Haury, Charles S. Martin and Roger R. Ward. Also present
was Mr. N. Andrew Overstreet, Superintendent of Schools; Mr. David Papenfuse,
Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Business Services; and Ms. Joanne
Higgins, Capital Improvements Coordinator.
At 7:38 A.M., motion was offered by Mr. Bain and seconded by Mrs.
Humphris to adjourn into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the
acquisition of property for public use under State Code Section 2.1-344.A.3.
Roll was called and the motion carried by the following recorded vote:
AYES: Messrs. Bain, Bowerman, Bowie, Mrs. Humphris, and Mr. Perkins.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Mr. Way.
(Mrs. Patricia Moore, School Board member, arrived at 7:40 A.M. and left
at 8:05 A.M.)
Agenda Item No. 3. Certify Executive Session.
At 8:45 A.M., the School Board left the Executive Session.
At 8:50 A.M., the Board resumed open session. Motion was immediately
offered by Mr. Bain and seconded by Mrs. Humphris certifying the Executive
Session as follows:

CERTIFICATION OF EXECUTIVE MEETING
WHEREAS, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has convened
an executive meeting on this date pursuant to an affirmative recorded
vote and in accordance with the provisions of The Virginia Freedom of
Information Act; and
WHEREAS, Section 2.1-344~1 of the Code of Virginia requires a
certification by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors that such
executive meeting was conducted in conformity with Virginia law;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Albemarle County Board of
Supervisors hereby certifies that, to the best of each member's
knowledge, (i) only public business matters lawfully exempted from
open meeting requirements by Virginia law were discussed in the
executive meeting to which this certification resolution applies, and
(ii) only such public business matters as were identified in the
motion convening the executive meeting were heard, discussed or
considered by the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.

Messrs. Bain, Bowie, Bowerman, Mrs. Humphris, and Mr.
Perkins.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT DURING VOTE:
Mr. Way.
ABSENT DURING MEETING: Mr. Way.
Agenda Item No. 4. Other Matters not on the Agenda from the Public and
Board.
Mr. Bowie announced that the Governor's Conference on Education is to be
held on July 24, 1990, in Richmond, Virginia.
Agenda Item No 5. Adjourn. With no further business to come before the
Board, the meeting was adjourned at 8:52 A.M.
