ARB202300020 Action Letter 2023-04-05,S.{.OF AL8 County of Albemarle Community Development Department - Planning April 3, 2023 Maria Minnick Dewberry 4805 Lake Brook Drive, Suite 200 Glen Allen, VA 23060 Khris Taggart, Senior Planner I ktaggart@albemarle.ora Telephone: (434) 296-5832 ext. 3278 RE: ARB-2023-20: Birdwood Mansion Initial Site Plan (TMP 07500-00-00-06300) Dear Applicant, Staff has forwarded the following recommendations on the above -noted Initial Site Development Plan to the agent for the Site Review Committee: • Regarding requirements to satisfy the design guidelines as per § 18-30.6.4c(2), (3) and (5) and recommended conditions of initial plan approval: o Prior to Initial Plan approval the following items shall be resolved to the satisfaction of the staff: None. • Regarding recommendations on the plan as it relates to the guidelines: None. • Regarding conditions to be satisfied prior to issuance of a grading permit: None. • Regarding the final site plan submittal: A Certificate of Appropriateness is required prior to final site plan approval. The following items and all items on the ARB Final Site Plan Checklist must be addressed: 1. Revise the site plan set to consistently note that the tent locations shown in the plans are for temporary events. 2. Revise the site plan to include the standard mechanical equipment note: Visibility of all mechanical equipment from the Entrance Corridor shall be eliminated. 3. Buxus Mircophylla (Little Leaf Boxwood) has been identified as an invasive species. Consider revising this planting to a noninvasive species. 4. Revise the site plan to include the standard landscaping note: All site plantings of trees and shrubs shall be allowed to reach, and be maintained at, mature height; the topping of trees is prohibited. Shrubs and trees shall be pruned minimally and only to support the overall health of the plant. 5. Revise the lighting plan to provide complete cutsheets on the lighting shown, cutsheets should include lamp color temperature. 6. Revise the lighting plan to provide illumination values for lighting shown along Birdwood Drive and the connector travelway to Boars Head Drive. 7. Revise the grading plan to show contours that are more rounded in nature along the north end of the parking area east of the Birdwood Mansion. 8. Revise the plan set to show tree protection consistently throughout the grading, landscaping, and erosion and sediment control plans.
