1973-03-083-8-?3 ~n adjourned meeting of the Board of County Supervisors was held on March 8~ 1973~ at 3:30 P.M. in the Board Room of the County~Office Building, Charlottesville, Virginia, said meeting being adjourned from February 28, 1973. Present: Messrs. Stuart F. Carwile, Gerald E. Fisher~ J. T. Henley, Jr., William L. Thacker~ Jr. and Gordon L. Wheeler. · bsent: Mr. Lloyd F. Wood~ Jr. Officers Present: County Executive. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman. Motion was offered by Mr. Carwile to adjourn into executive session to discuss a matter which will be the sB~ject of a public hearing at a later date. Motion was seconded by Mr. Fisher and carried by the following recorded vote.: AYES: NAYS: Messrs. Carwite~ Fisher, Henley~ Thacker and Wheeler. None. The Board reconvened at 4:00 P.M. Re~ ..... Roger Ford~ Dr. F.' A. Iachetta and Mrs. Harmon were present for the Community~ction 0rganization-.to/request~anappropriation from this Board. After a very lengthy discussion, it was the consensus of the Board that they would support Rev. Ford's request for an appropriation to cover such programs as: low-cost housing~ adult education and administration. However~ Rev. Ford was instructed to bring the Board further information on the manpower program~ this matter to be discussed again at' the Board meeting of March 1~ 1973. -~ by Mr. Fisher At 4:40 P.M. motion was offered/to adjourn into executive session to discuss ~J personnel and salaries. Motion was seconded by Mr. Thacker and carried by the following recorded vote: AYES: Messrs. Carwile, Fisher, Henley~ Thacker and Wheeler. NAYS: None. The Board reconvened at 7:35 P.M. The meeting was again~ called to order by the Chairman. He announced that the meeting which had been scheduled for April 4 to hear the City's petition for a landfill had been rescheduled for April 6. At this time~ the staff is checking to see if Red Hill School will be available for this hearing and the public will be notified as soon as this is definite. Mr. Wheeler stated that the Board would app~oint two members to the Equalization Board in the near future. Mr. R. D. Wade, who was reappointed to this Board, has withdrawn and will not serwe. He also stated that there seemed to be some confusion about the Board of Zoning Appeals. This Board i~ appointed by the Judge of the Circuit Court and not by the Board of Supervisors. The only appeals that go the Board of Zoning Appeals are cases ~ requested by the zoning administrator and after a decision by the Board of Zoning Appeals the only recom~se is to the court. and the Board At this time, the Chairman/conducted a public work session on the School Board's proposed budget for 197~-7~. All members of the School Board and several members of the staff were present. At the conclusion of the work session, motion was offered by Mr. Fisher to a~journ this meeting until $:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 15~ 1975 in the Board Room of the County Office Building for a work session, on the other portions of the County Budget for 197~-75. Motion was seconded by Mr. Thacker and carried by the following recorded vote: AYES: Messrs. Carwile~ Fisher, Henley, Thacker and Wheeler. NAYS: None. Chairman
