1969-10-06SPECIAL59' October 6, 1969 Pursuant to ~he following waiver, the Board of County Supervisors met in special session at 4:30 P.M. on this date with members of City Cotmcil at City Hall, with the following members present: Eessrs. E. N. Garnett, Donald Carroll, Gordon L. Wheeler, Lloyd F. Wood, Jr. and R. A. Yancey. Absent: Mr. Joseph E. Gibson. 0ffice~ present: Cou~[.t~ Executive. 'we, the undersigned, members of Dhe Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, do hereby waive notice and special service thereof of a meeting called for 4:30 P.M. on October 6, 1969, to be held jointly with City Council at City Hall, for the purpose of considering bids received in connection with airport construction and application for reimbursement in connection with flood related expenditures, and we do hereby consent to any and all Business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matters hereinabove mentioned as may be lawful, incident and neces- E. Eurphy 8,560.00 Mr. Batchelor advised t~mt the Federal grant approved for this project was in the amount of $50,500.00. However, in a recent meeting with F.A.A. it was CO indicated that increased ffederal funds might be available although the tie-dorm area would have to be constructed entirely ~with local funds. This would mean that $136,000.00 would be required for this project at the local level if the Federal government increases its participation as anticipated. The gowerning bodies were informed that there are sufficient' funds in the ai?.port account to cover this project. On motion by Mr. Yancey, seconded by Mr. Wood, the project as outlined by the County Executive was approved and the County Execu- tive and the City Manager were authorized to accept the low bids of 'Faulconer Construction Company under Items II and_ IIIA, above listed~ and the low bid of J. M. Murphy for lighting. The motion carried with ~r. Wheeler abstaining. (Similar action was taken by City Council.) -The Board was advised that resolution authorizing the County Executive to sign application for reimbursement in connection with flood related expenditures was required. The following resolution was offered by Mr. ~aeeler, seconded by Ilr. Carroll, and unanimously adopted: BE IT tLESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County, that T. M. Batchelor, Jr., County Executive, be and he is hereby authorized to execute for and in behalf of Albemarle County, a phblic entity established un the laws of the State of Virginia, this application and file it in the appropriate State office for the purpose of obtaining certain Eederal financial assistance under the Federal Disaster Act (Public Law 87~, 81st Congress; 42 U.S.C. ~8~- 8 fg). On motion, the meeting was adjourned.
