1969-10-24SPECIAL7I October 24, 1969 Pursuant to the follov~ng waiver, the Board of County Supervisors met in special session at I :00 P.M. on this date vdth the following members present: Messrs. E. N. Garnett, Joseph E. Gibson, Donald Carroll, Gordon L. Wheeler, Lloyd F. Wood, Jr. and l~. A. Yancey. Absent: None. Officers present: County Executive. We, the undersigned, members of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, do hereby waive notice and special service thereof, of a meeting called for 1:00 P.M. on October 24, 1969, to be held in the County Office Building, for the purpose of considering matters pertaining to the August 19-20 flood, and we do hereby consent to any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matters hereinabove mentioned as may be law- ful, incident and necessary thereto ..... ~E, N. ~Garne~t~ ~ Gordon L. Wh~eier ~Lloyd F.~Wodd, Jr. The County executive advised that much debris remains along the rivers and streams in Albemarle County as a result of the August 19-20 flood and the County has neither the manpower nor the equipment necessary for proper clean- ing. He recommended that the Federal Government be requested to assist in this project and submitted resolution required if this assistance is sought. The resolution, which follows, was offered for adoption by ~r. V~neeler, seconded by ~. Carroll, and unanimously adopted: ~qEAS, on the 23rd day of August, 1969, the President declared a "major disaster" in the State of Virginia under the provisions of Public Law 87~, 8.%st Congress, as amended; and ~AS, Albemarle County is a public entity within said State; N0~, THERE. FOI~E, BE IT tLESOLVED, by the Board of County Super- visors of Albemarle County, Virginia, that the Office of Emergency Preparedness b~ and hereby is requested to arrange to have the appro- priate Federal Agency perform the following emergency work essential to the healths safety or welfare of the people and property of this public entity See copies of Form 164 attached hereto.) This body certifies that~ to the best of its kno~ledg~e and beiief~ the requested work is eligible under Public Law ~?~, 5l st Congress~ as amended, and agrees to (a) provide without Cost to the United States all lands, easements, and rights-of-way necessary for ac- compiishment of the approved work; and (b) hold and save the United States free ~om damages due to the approved work.
