A meeting of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County,
Virginia, adjourned from l~ay 21, 1970, was held at 7:30 P.~I. on this date
in ~the Board l~oom, County Office Building.
Present: Eessrs. E. N. Garnett, Donald Carroll, GordonL. Wheeler,
L. F. 'Wood, Jr. and l~. A. Yancey.
Absent: Mr. Jo seph E. Gibson.
Officers present: County Executive, County Attorney, and Assistant
Director of Finance.
The Chairman announced that this was the time set for public hearing on
the proposed budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1971, as advertised in
the Daily Progress in accords~uce with law.
There was discussion from the floor from the Citizens for Superior Albe-
marle Schools commending the Board on their efforts to provide funds for the
schools but stating that they felt more ftmds Should be expended in teacher
salaries and hoped the Board could spend more in the future. Don Reid raised
questions as to when the Chris Green Lake would be opened to the public. It
was eXPlained to him that the County is aw~ting funds from the State and
Federal governments and it is hoped it will be opened next summer. Other
citizens spoke as to the need to be careful in budgeting.
Claims against the County amoUnting to $1,046,968.21 were presented,
examined and allowed, and certified to the Director of Finance for payment and
charged against the following funds:
