1971-04-123'70 April 12, 1971 Pursuant to the following waiver., the Board of County Supervisors of Albe- marle County, Virginia, met in special session at 7:30 P.E. on this date in the County Court House, with the following members present: Messrs. E. N. Garnett, Joseph E. Gibson, F. E. Paulett, Gordon L. Wheeler, Lloyd F. Wood, Jr., l~. Yancey. Absent: None. Officers present: County Executive and Asst. Director of Finance. 'We, the undersigned, members of the Board of County Supervisors of Albemarle County, Virginia, do hereby waive notice and special ser- vice thereof, of a meeting called for 7:30 P.M. on the 12th day of April, 1971, to be hkld in the Court Boom, for the purpose of con- sidering the proposed 1971-72 budget and we do hereby consent to any and all business and the taking of such action at said meeting upon the matter hereinabove mentioned as may be lawful, incident and necessary thereto. / ~ ~J~se~h E. Wood, Jr. The Chairman announced that this was the time set for public hearing on the proposed budget for the 1971-72 fiscal year as advertised in the Daily Progress in accordance .with law. Er. Garnett advised that the public would be heard but no action would be taken at this time. He then called on the County Executive who presented a synopsis of the proposed budget. I~. F. A. Iachetta questioned the continuing appropriation for purchase of Burley School and his questions in this regard were answered by Nr. Gibson and Er. Batchelor. He also commented on salaries, indicating that the lower job classifications should be given more consideration. Others questioning certain phases of the budget, but not opposing same, included Nr. Don Danielson, ~r. Jack Marzano, Nr. Boy Patterson and several citizens who did not identify themselves. Nfs. Judith Campbell appeared and made an appeal for the Board to include in this budget the original request of the Youth Employment Service for an 37:L appropriation of $2,~00.00. Nfs. Campbell reviewed quite extensively the prior year's program and that which is planned for the coming summer and stressed the need for the amount requested ~rom the County. Also appearing in support of the Y.E.S. request were Keene Byrd, Nfs. Sandusky of the League of WOmen Voters, and Nfs. Viola Pugh oI~ the Department of l~ecreation. The delegation was advised that further consideration would be given to the request before final action is taken on the budget. On motion, the meeting was adjourned. Chairman
